Chance Me and My Research

I'm a current junior at a prep school in SE PA. I didn't take school seriously until this year. I will address that in my college essay. Also, does Pitt have a form of GPA forgiveness, such as putting emphasis on my Junior and Senior Grades? Will they notice my upward trend, and will is sway them into a decision? Should I apply as early as possible because of rolling admissions

Applying: Undecided

Freshman: 2.65
Sophomore: 2.66
Junior (So Far) 3.71

My Cumulative GPA going into my senior year will be around 2.95-3.05 (Will continue getting good grades senior year)

Have not taken the SAT or ACT yet, my guidance counselor thinks i'll do better on the ACT though. Because of my science and math grades.

PSAT: 187

Awards: 9th Grade Academic Achievement award in Programming, 10th grade JV hockey all star, JV hockey coaches award

Leadership: Head of Programming robotics team

ECs: FIRST Robotics, academic competition, March for Life club, varsity ice hockey, Theatre Society, stock market club, intramural soccer and volleyball, Club ice hockey, eBay powerseller, jv lacrosse, and 250+ hours of community service.

After Analyzing my colleges, here is my approach to how I personally think my chances are. Here is my 23 College list.

RIT- Safety
Drexel- Safety
Temple U- Safety
Widener- Safety
Gettysburg- Safety
Hofstra- Safety
Fairfield- Safety
Purdue- Low Reach
PSU (Summer)- Reach
Syracuse U- Low Reach
University of Pittsburgh- Reach
Northeastern- Low Reach
Boston U- Reach
WPI- Reach
RPI- High Reach
U Mass- Low Reach
Lafayette- Reach
Villanova- High Reach
Maryland- Reach
UConn- Low Reach
CMU- Dream

Can someone comment to let me know if my Safety and reaches are accurately chanced. And could you give me some feedback.

Thanks

Your GPA is going to turn all admissions into a crap shoot. Also, don't apply to 23 schools. Thats insane. Try to bring it down to fifteen or so - still a lot, but infinitely more manageable. Common App or not, you will not be able to produce 23 application packages of high quality.

I don't know about any other than RIT and Drexel, but I think you're correct that thise are safe, as long as you really emphasize your change of heart.
Just curious, why didn't you take scho seriously til now? Jw.

well to tell you the truth girl914, the summer before starting highh school. I had to nurse and take care of my grandmother who I was extremely close to. She was dying from a combination of altheimers and infection. While my parents worked, I took care of her, it was hard to watch her die before my eyes. She passed away the day before I started class. My aunt who I also was close to just lost her mom and was given only 2 weeks to live died of lung cancer at the end of September. I was completely crushed by losing 2 of the most prominent figures in my life who practically raised me. I was with them everyday up until the end of my 7th grade year. So basically this year I felt different and the pain was no longer with me and I am now completely focused and am no longer feeling the empty feeling i had in my 9th and half of 10th grade years.
