Chance for Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UMich?

I'm pretty confident I can get into at least UMich, but you can never really be sure. I'm a rising senior and would just like to calm my nerves a bit before I start the seemingly everlasting trek of applying to colleges.

Info:
Female
Permanent resident (Belarussian citizen)
Michigan resident
Intended major: Computer science / Symbolic Systems if I go to Stanford
Possibly a technical theatre minor where available

Stats:
GPA - 3.7-3.9 UW
ACT - 34
  • Math - 32
  • Science - 36
  • Reading - 35
  • Writing - 33
SAT - 2120
  • Math - 700
  • Reading - 720
  • Writing - 700

I've taken the chemistry and math II subject tests, but haven't received the scores yet.

Classes:
Freshman/Sophomore - Honors math and English
Junior - AP chem, AP English, AP Euro, AP CompSci, honors math
Senior - AP psych, AP English, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP Stats

ECs:
Theatre - worked backstage since freshman year, became stage manager and got elected as an officer sophomore year
FIRST Robotics - joined this year, I worked on the build team and got a leadership position for next year.

Jobs:
I work for the district doing backstage work for groups that rent out our school's auditorium. The work varies from running sound/lights/props if need be, to babysitting small children if all the other adults are busy. Fun stuff.

I'm also attending Carnegie Mellon's Pre-college program this summer. I got accepted for the diversity scholarship APEA program, and will be taking a programming and philosophy course.

If you're instate then you're a match for Michigan. Same for CMU. However, Stanford and MIT are both significant reaches.

Make sure to make the most out of that summer program. You're on the right track, but I would advise that you either learn more programming languages, or learn the ones you know now more in depth. Do you think you did well on your Subject Tests?

Thanks for the advice.

I feel like I did pretty well on the tests, because I found them fairly easy and wasn't stressed whilst taking them. I'm not too worried about them, and if worse comes to worse I'll just retake them.

I just got my SATII scores in; 690 for chem and 750 for math II. I'll going to retake the chemistry test, but is a 750 on math enough or should I retake that one too?

750 math is fine. Ideally you want to break 700, however for math you probably want to have a 750+, which you do.
