Hey guys, I'm from the US and was just wondering what my chances would be if I apply to University of Oxford. Its website mentioned around a 2100 minimum SAT, but here are my qualifications:

SAT I Single: 2250 (M 750 CR 710 W 790)
SAT I Super: 2300 (M 800 CR 710 W 790)
SAT II Math II: 800
SAT II Chem: 770
SAT II Physics: 760

AP Courses taken / will take : Euro History, Lang/comp, Lit/comp, French, Bio, Chem, USH, Calc BC, Phys C, Stats

Extracurriculars:
National English & Spanish Honors Society
FIRST Robotics
Math / Science League
Neuroscience Research

Does Oxford even accept SAT, and if they do, do they superscore? Also, do they require any other tests for admission? Any answers and additional info would be greatly appreciated

Your grades are fine. It all hinges on how you do on the test they administer for the subject you intend to major and then your interview.

I am assuming that you know what subject you want to apply to study, and just didn't mention it.

Either way, you need to get your skates on- applications have to be in by mid-Oct, and many subjects have aptitude tests that are administered in early Nov, but have to be registered much sooner than that. Not to mention getting the paperwork done- recommendations, etc.

For a ton of useful information and a good support system go look up The Student Room (a UK website), particularly 1) applying to Oxford; 2) American students applying to Oxford/UK universities; 3) Oxford applicants 2013. Also go get started on UCAS (common app parallel for the UK). Also, on iTunes there are a bunch of short pieces from the Admission office that are interesting, and there are a couple of videos (mostly, but not all, unofficial) on YouTube.

For scores: you self-report your scores on UCAS; if you get an offer you have to prove that they are real. So, superscore. Your AP scores outside the subject area you are applying to, and your ECs that don't relate to that subject are pretty irrelevant.

Your PS ranges (depending on subject and individual tutors) from important to crucial. The purpose is to demonstrate that you love the subject, have a fair understanding of what it is about, have (within the limits of being in secondary school) done what you can to learn more about, and have good potential in the subject area. All without sounding arrogant!

While you are at it, look up other universities that are good at your subject- depending on what APs you have already taken, and the marks you may already have enough to get an unconditional offer from some universities such as St Andrews or Edinburgh or London).

One thing to remember: at Oxford, it is the people who will be teaching you that will do the admissions process- not a separate Admissions team, as in the US. Hence, they will be looking for students who love their subject, have a good aptitude for the subject, and who will be interesting to teach. It really is that simple. Good luck!
