| Chance me for Stanford, Pomona, Rice, UC's, others (will chance back)
After getting my AP scores and June SAT's, I want to re-assess my chances at these schools!
Me:
-Northern California public HS, Class of 2013
-Hispanic and Caucasian
-Middle-class
-Ranked in at least top 9% based on ELC eligibility, though more likely in top 3%; current rank unknown
-Legacy at Stanford
Stanford
Pomona
UCLA
UCD
UCSC
UCI
Rice
University of Portland
WUSTL
Planned Major/Field: Health Science, most likely.
For Portland, UCLA and UCI will apply for Nursing programs. Otherwise, I don't know for sure.
Scores:
-SAT CR 650 M 770 W 800 COMP: 2220
-SAT II USH 690 Math 2 790
-ACT Comp 33 M 34 Eng 34 Sci 32 CR 31
-Taken 3 AP Tests: Spanish Language (3), English Language & Composition (4), APUSH (4)
-Planning on taking 4 AP Tests: Calculus AB, Physics, Government, Economics
-Possibly taking 1 or 2 more: English Literature (if I take a junior college course, which I plan to do, I won't have to take the test) and Biology (I'm considering self-studying, as I have already taken Honors Biology, though I'm not sure yet whether I will go through with this)
-4.5 W 3.9 UW
-Class rank (last time available): 4/450 (likely changed, however, as this was as of last semester)
Sophomore Year Schedule and Grades:
Honors Algebra 2: A/A
Physical Education 2: A/A
Honors Spanish 3: A/A
Honors World History: A/A+
Honors English 2: A-/A
Orchestra A/A
Junior Year Schedule and Grades:
AP Spanish A/A
AP Lang: A-/A
APUSH: A/A
Honors Trig/Precalc: B+/B+
Academic Chemistry: A+/A+
Orchestra: A/A
Note: I would have taken Honors/AP Chemistry, but it interfered with AP Spanish, so I changed to Academic Chemistry
Senior Year Schedule:
AP Calculus
AP Gov/Econ
AP English Literature (maybe, possibly taking a JC English course instead)
AP Physics
Orchestra
TA
EC's:

Stanford is a reach for anyone including you. I'd get that SAT up to over a 2300 to better your chances. Or get your ACT to a 34 or 35. One thing thats good for you is that you have excellent dedication in your ECs which will definitely look good. I don't know much about Pomona but i'd say your in for the rest of the schools you listed including UCLA. Rice could be a low reach I would assume.
Chance me? Chance for UMiami?? (WILL Chance back) very desperate Chance me for OSU(Also EA or RD??) |

Stanford and Rice will be the hardest schools to retrieve an accepetance letter from. Suggestion: Apply to schools such as College of William and Mary, Lee-High, etc. Look into them, they are great. THe other colleges you have listed are sure to be acceptances. Keep it up, and aim for a college you can retrieve a good GPA from! Chance me back? Boston College Transfer |

Strong, strong application! It seems you have every area covered. Although, of course Stanford is a reach for anyone, I don't see any reason why you couldn't get in. I'm not very familiar with the UC system so I can't give much input there, other than that one of my friends just got in with a full scholarship. (Public HS, white, middle class female, 3.9 gpa, 2000 sat, okay e.c.'s). Take that as you will, but I'd call that a safety for you.

I think you've got a pretty solid shot at all of the schools on your list except for maybe Rice and Stanford. For what it's worth though, Stanford admissions seem completely bipolar at times, but I think you've got what it takes If you can get those SAT scores up a little bit, I think your chances would look even better. Good luck!
