Hey! I dont have any advice since im in your position as well- confused college bound senior. I'm applying to Cornell for engineering. I hope that I have a decent shot O:. Ill give a shot at this chance though. 31 is mediocre for Cornell I think, maybe bump it up to at least a 33? I myself work at admissions at my high school. Its a bit competitive with a college like atmosphere and I just separate the stacks of applications with good act (with decent essay) and bad act (they give me cards with names, GPA, ACT/SAT, and what the admissions officer graded on the essay). Standardized tests just makes it easier to level the playing field. If we need more admits, we look at the the quality of the essay and academic disadvantage (if they were in a bad school) then put those kids in possible late admit case and summer program to test out if theyre gonna be good enough. I imagine college stuff will be 100x more brutal O:.

anyways, NHS pres is good but depends on the school also. That Spotter Network looks interesting, what do you do there (do you play a significant role in the team or show promise)? If it is impressive, it should be a good boost and source for a rec. But it could still come down to the essay. I dont know how similar admissions for Yale and Cornell are, but I know someone who got in with a 30 on the act and average gpa and ECs. Colleges have these mission statements/goals and if you really fit them, looking beyond the objective part of your app, you have potential>> (this coming from a personal friend who's an admissions of officer at Texas A&M, College Station). I guess his essay or interview was just really impressive... There's hope for the both of us!

I should have mentioned I'm applying to Cornell ED to CALS... ED doubles the acceptance rate so I'm hoping for a better shot in that respect.

SpotterNetwork is an online community of people around the US. Essentially we are vigilantes but for weather. For example, if we see a tornado, we have to report it online. During winter storms, we can report snowfall heights. It's just something to boost my application when it comes to Meteorology.
