Chances of getting into UNC at Chapel Hill
Just curious if you think I have a chance at UNC
So to begin, I have a terrible GPA for getting into UNC which is at 3.3 with a 27 on the ACT without studying, but am doing intensive studying for the SAT and ACT that I'm taking soon. I would have had probably from 3.6 to 3.8 for a GPA but in my sophomore year I got a bad case of mono 2 weeks before semester tests and took them while pretty much sleeping, later that year my grandfather died of cancer and my GPA tanked, and not long after that, a close friend got diagnosed with leukemia and mid way through my junior year, he died as well. Now, as a senior my grades are all A's, and as a Junior the second semester my grades were all A's besides one B. Anyways here are my EC's:
-JV Tennis captain 9th/10th grade
-Varsity tennis captain 11th/12th grade
-Lettered 11th grade and will probably letter 12th as well
-11th Grade Athlete scholar and will probably be this year as well
-Spanish club member 9th/10th/12th grade
-Students against destructive decisions President
-Spring play opening and ending role 11th grade
-50+ Children's Museum volunteer hours
-Debated 9th grade
-Extemporaneous speaking 9th/10th grade
-Oral Interp 11th/12th grade
-Qdoba employee from 10th grade summer until 11th grade summer
-Biochemistry Lab technician from 11th grade summer ongoing
Overall I know that my GPA is low, by the end of the year it should be up to a 3.5 and with my recent practice ACT tests I'm at about a 32 composite, but do you think I could get into UNC?
Edit: I have recommendations from my principal, director of planning at the children's museum, and 4 of my AP teacher. I'd like to say that my essay writing skills are above average due to the writing classes I've taken, and because teachers have told me that they are well written. And will also be tacking on another 100-200 volunteer hours this year.
