Chance Me at Boston University please :)

I haven't visited yet, but I know this is one of my top choices. I will apply RD because I heard ED screws over your financial aid options...is that true?

SAT I: 1870 - 640M/600CR/630W

SAT II: 800 Biology M

ACT: 28

AP's. 5 AP Biology

GPA uw/w: 3.7 Weighted, school doesn't report unweighted
Increasing semester over semester throughout highschool career. (Junior and senior year consistent 4.0)

Classes: 4 AP's, 10 Honors Classes

ECs:
Founded Key Club at my School and am currently PResident
Member of 4 other clubs, holding a position in another
Varsity Soccer, Tennis, JV Basketball
Volunteered at the Library tutoring kids and helping behind the circulation desk

Awards/honors:
Gold Key Recipient in Scholastic Arts & Writing Competition for Photography
MVP twice in Tennis and once in basketball.
Excellence in Geometry, Most improved in Honors modern world history
High Honor Roll for 3 years

Excellent Essay
2 Very Good Teacher Recs
1 Excellent Counsler Rec

Gender: Male... yay for BU having 60/40 gender distribution towards females :P
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern...otherwise known as white on the common app

I'm thinking my SAT should go above 1900, ACT to around 30, and GPA to around 3.75 or 3.8. Take into consideration that I'm at a very competitive, private, college prep school. Lastly, I am applying for a Cellular/Molecular Biology Major which should correlate well with my 800 and 5 that you saw above. Thanks!

Everything other than your SATs seem to match up. If you can get it up to a 2000+, I think you'll be a shoe-in

I know they superscore so that should help. Hypothetically lets say my scores stay the same. Do I submit the SAT or ACT or both?

I would say 90% chance in. there sat range for ed is 1700-1900 and for RD is 1900-2000. You have a rigour school record. You had chances at better colleges such as Boston College

Thanks for the reply!

I know but I'm not too caught up in the rankings, also I'm not Catholic so I feel as though I wouldn't fit in well with the culture there. Also, they didn't have biomedical engineering which I am considering as a major.

I gambled by taking a flight to Boston. At first when I saw the outside of the university I was scared because it looked kind of old. (I'm a sucker for modern, state of the art structures ) As soon as I stepped on the campus at BU I felt as though I was surrounded with people that reminded me of myself. BU is ranked 7th nationally in biomedical engineering so that kind of caught my eye. Boston is easily the my favorite city in America along with San Francisco. The feel of the campus strictly contrasted that of Big-Ten schools. If you're looking for green spaces the Boston Common is a short bike ride away. Also I'm glad that greek life and partying isn't big at BU as opposed to Big-Ten schools. I wanted an urban feel to the university as I have been going to a small private school in Ohio. It's kind of cool being in one of the biggest college towns in the world.
I highly value diversity and BU is #12 destination for international students. I know you don't care too much but, as a muslim, I'm happy that the biggest mosque in New England is like 2 miles away. The only thing I ate on campus was U-Burger which was delicious. As a side not I had the best italian food of my life in little Italy! The dorms were typical but I have my eyes set on the StuVi apartment style living for future years :P. They didn't show me any classrooms, which I am kind of skeptical of, as I have heard they still use overhead projectors haha. Surprisingly when using the net calculator for all of the colleges I am applying to, I found out that BU was on par with Ohio State tuition (given they give me the grants/scholarships that they say they will). Besides admission the only thing I am scared about is getting financial aid and grade deflation. Sorry for writing so much, it has been on my mind and you gave me the opportunity to write away :P.

Does your friend like BU? Any complaints (specifically grade deflation)? Any advice?

its fine i was looking forward to read that lol. i heard there is great deflation but you should be good considering your solid Biology background. i heard social life is good at BU, most people go to MIT and surrounding colleges for parties. parties at BU is not often cosidering its in the city, except for those who live in appartments. You can never go wrong going to college in city, what isnt there to do. i heard classes can be rough.

OH yeah i forgot to ask. your ESSAYS will be a HUGE factor in your admission for Early Decision. How were your essays?supplement essays? they will be a good portion of your early decision application. My friends loves it as BU.
