| Chance me! (Many many many)
Hi all...
Sat: 1810
Country: Ecuador
Toefl score: 101
GPA / 20: 18.34
GPA / 4: 3.7
I come from a public highschool, which doesn't rank people so I'm not sure about my position...
Not many EC activities...
I'm currently studying in Ecuador but I want to prepare in another country... I'm even considering taking SAT again, but I'm not sure, yet.
But if I were to apply with those degrees, what would my chances be?
I have a long list because if I get accepted by any of those, my government will give me full scholarship...
in Canada:
U of Toronto
U of British Coloumbia
McGill
in the USA:
Ohio State University
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
Pennsylvania State University
University of Pittsburgh
Purdue University
Illinois UC Campus
UC San Diego
U of Washington
Carnagie M U
Georgia Tech
U of Texas Austin
North Carolina Chapel Hill
UC Santa Barbara
UC Davis
South California U
University of Maryland
Washington - Saint Louis

Try to improve your scores because things are a little harder for us, internationals. I don't know how detrimental will the lack of EC's be since i don't know a lot about what the schools you mentioned look for in a candidate, what i know for sure is that your chances increase a lot if you don't need financial aid. Best of luck to you. Any advice?? Help me, please!!!! |

Thanks, and yes, that was my last SAT degree, I just paid for a new one that I will take in november, I hope to increase at least by 1000 points.
I studied french for about two years, english, 6 years, i also participated in a literacy program for the illiterates of my country for about a year... can those be considered EC's?

Great, if you score 2000+ you should be fine.
Normally an applicant shows leadership, commitment to society and passion through his or her EC's, so usually they are non-academic activities(except researches, those actually help a lot) that's why i believe your french and english classes are extracurriculars worth mentioning... but your literacy program does for example.
I want to clarify that i'm not an expert or anything like that, i'm an applicant just like you and i'm giving you my opinion, i hope it is helpful. Good luck.

I'm planning to study a major related to computers, probably something like computer science or computer engineering, even software specialized majors.
