Chances of getting into NYU Steinhardt?

I'm a 16 year old female (junior) from Iowa. I'm hoping to attend Steinhardt for Music Business. I honestly have no idea what my chances are of getting into Steinhardt. Here goes..

SAT: I have yet to take the SAT, but my projected scores from the PSAT I took my sophomore year are: 470-580CR, 510-620M, and 440-560W. In December I should get the scores from the PSAT I just took this year (yesterday actually!) I have a good feeling I improved a lot but we'll see.
ACT: Also yet to take, but projected cumulative score from the PLAN I took spring of my sophomore year was I believe around 29. Scores from high to low in each subject would be Math, Science, then i'm not sure about reading and english.
Cumulative GPA (weighted): 4.1; unweighted I'm guessing 4.0 or close (All A+'s, A's, A-'s, or P's)
Rank: not sure
AP Classes: AP US History (did NOT take exam), currently taking AP Physics (going to take exam), planning to take AP Calculus for sure my senior year, probably AP Chemistry, and a slim chance I'll take AP Statistics
Senior Classes (what I'm planning now anyway): Band, AP Calculus, [AP?] Chemistry, English 12 (or 2 semesters of english electives), US Government, Sociology, Spanish 4, and an undecided business elective.

Extracurriculars:
Volleyball: 4 years. Through the school for 4 years, and one year the additional club volleyball.
Track & Field: hurdled and sprinted for 1 year (and only 1 year. never doing it again :P)
Band: 8 years total (including upcoming senior year). Played clarinet in concert band for the first 4 years, tenor sax in concert band for 2 years, and symphonic (the "best" players) band for 2 years.
Jazz Band: 6 years. Tenor Saxophone 1 every year.
Pep Band: 2 years. Clarinet.
Marching Band: 4 years. Clarinet.
Student Activist Club (SHEPH): Will be 2 years.
Key Club: Will be 2 years.

Non School Sanctioned EC's:
Snare and Drumset started 6 years ago, took lessons 5, still play during free time sometimes.
Piano: self-taught, just started playing probably a year ago and will continue playing. It's probably my favorite instrument even though i'm still getting familiar.
Guitar: also self-taught, started 3 years ago. Played off and on, but I'm starting to play more often, at least weekly.
Voice: I absolutely hate singing in front of people but when I have, I've been told I have a decent voice.. if that counts. From the moment I could speak, I'm sure I was singing.

I believe that's it.

Awards:
One Outstanding Jazz solo award (hopefully more in the coming months!)
A lot of participation awards...
A Presidential award for academics (Can't remember what the exact award is called)
Honor Roll every year since 7th grade..

Essays: I'd say it depends on the subject. When I have a strong idea or opinion about something, I generally write pretty good essays. I'm definitely not the strongest writer though.

Hooks: None obvious to me?

Work Experience: Worked in the lab at my parents' scientific company for what will be 7 years. Run a live sound engineering company (accompanied with lights and stage, all that jazz) with my dad. I primarily control the lights and visual effects, do roadie work, and assist my dad with the sound engineering. This just started about a year ago, but we've already had a good amount of gigs and a lot of great testimonials from clients.

Also would like to point out that my high school was named one of the top high schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report. We're number one in the state for academics (this is for public schools, I'm not sure about private schools.) So I think it's safe to say I'm at a pretty good high school if that counts for anything.

I'd also be willing to say why I'm so attracted to the Music Business major at NYU, if you're curious/can give me better feedback from knowing that.

If you score 29+ on the ACT, Steinhardt should be a match for you.

Yea, get a 29+ on your ACT for sure, and you're a shoe in. Get an internship over the summer w/ a music company, or a broadcasting company. SOMETHING! that will definitely make you stand out. it's good you're thinking about it now, and write killer essays. If you want to be like an absolute admit, i'd get a 33 on your ACT. which shouldn't be too bad. i went from like a 30 to a 34 without even trying that hard.

earlygrad- Does the live sound company I work for count for something or do you think I should also do some additional things? I've been offered to go check out some of the local studios and see how recording sessions are done. I'll probably do that sometime. And also.. do you know how specific NYU is about giving them SAT vs ACT scores? I have a feeling I'll do way better on the ACT, so I'll probably end up just sending the ACT scores, but I don't want that to hinder my chances of getting in. On their site, they say that 87% freshmen submitted SATs and only 13% submitted ACTs, so I'm kinda freaking out about that.

I've also been looking at Drexel University, Ithaca College, Depaul University, and Northeastern University. All for music business/industry. I don't know if any of those could serve as safety schools, matches or reaches.. Any ideas??

And if you know of any other schools that have good music business/industry programs that are (per my preference) in a large city setting.. let me know.

Drexel's music business program is actually very popular, so I wouldn't call it a safety for anybody. It has paid coop experiences and its own record label, Mad Dragon. I would have suggested it if you hadn't mentioned it.

Also try University of the Arts. I'm not sure about the details.

If most of the NYU applicants submitted SAT scores, it just may be the applicant pool. SAT is much more popular on the east and west coasts.
