*How to get accepted at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign?*

Am I on the right path?? I am only a sophmore in high school. I have between a 3.8 and 3.9 UW GPA, and a 4.2 W GPA. My course selection mainly focuses on Math and Science. I take the most rigorous classes my school offers. I've scored in the 99th percentile on math testing. I run both varsity indoor and outdoor track. I am part of my schools Key Club, Latin Club, and Science Club. I also plan on Joining the Latin Honors Society, Science Honors Society, and National Honors Society. I also participate in many science competitions Such as Science Olympiad, and thINc (NC science competition). I am also party of my churches handbells ensemble and choir emsemble. Ive been also playing piano for 5 years. I have many volunteer service hours for both my church and my school. How can I ensure acceptance at Urbana Champaign?

You should be fine. If your high school is strong, and you keep your GPA up where it is, you're likely to be among the stronger applicants at UI. Make sure your SAT scores are consistent with your grades (meaning no one has to wonder why you're at a different level in one vs. the other).

Good luck.

Thanks! I've enrolled for SAT prep classes to prepare me, and hopefully things turn out for the best

As a student at UIUC and having lots of friends who got into here for engineering and knowing their performance in high school, I believe you will most likely get in, assuming you keep up the grades and work ethic. Stay involved, as you are, but keep in mind if things are very difficult, dropping a couple ECs won't be too problematic as long as you are doing something.

Anyways, good luck and hopefully you will be joining UIUC someday.

Score a 2000+ on the SAT and UIUC is a safety, provided you don't want to do engineering (especially computer engineering) or computer science.

Or, if you're fine with having UIUC as a low match, 1800+.

But if you can score 2200+ and you are a great essay writer, U Chicago becomes reachable then.
