The one thing that will really hurt you is your GPA. Everything else is great for Stern. Do you have a class rank? If its high (i.e. 10th percentile), then perhaps they'll see it in a different way, but if not, your GPA may kill your chances.

well, the reason for my poor gpa is because there was a time where a family member got cancer, and i was really depressed for a while.
do you think if i explained that to the colleges it would be better for my chances?

Seems to be a low reach, but its hard to tell... I would definitely try to explain the low GPA, because it is killing your app. Everything else seems strong.

i understand my grades arent top-notch (dang) but i was hoping that since my extracurriculars are strong enough that i would still pass.

Match-Low Reach
Idk why CC thinks NYU is so prestigious, it's just a 4.0 W, 2150 SAT to get into Stern for my school (I go to a pretty competitive one in NJ). Just don't say your applying for Financial aid and pay the 55k a year.

Match to low-reach just because of your GPA. If they can get past your GPA, you have a great resume. ECs are good and your SAT is definitely good enough. If you're willing to pay the tuition, this may help you, not sure. I'm sure you have a good chance since you applied ED, only my opinion though. Chance back? Chances? Lots of state schools and some private |

First in family to attend college is definitely a huge advantage on the app, and with your scores, GPA, and extracurriculars, as well as the fact that you're applying ED, I would be really surprised if you didn't get in!

I'm not an expert, but it seems like everything is in order. Use the fact that you had some emotional issues at the time to your advantage, your extra curricular activities seem very strong, and good luck with everything!
I think that you'll have a good chance.
