Essays: Haven't started, but will be pretty solid. I'm a decent writer.
Recommendations: I think they should be ok. I'm going to ask a teacher who I've had for freshmen year and will have again for senior year and another teacher who has taught me for all 4.

As a student who applied to Stony Brook and got waitlisted with a 1200 Combined SAT score, I'd say that you'll definitely wanna study up for your SATs. A popular science school like that is going to have a lot of strong applicants especially in the two majors you're applying for. But you have nice ECs and a high class ranking which should give you a decent edge.

Thank you both for the input! And @TheMagicHour: that's actually quite funny because stony brook is my top choice so far so thank you for the advice! I will keep it in mind when I retake the SATs in little less than 2 weeks. Also, if you don't mind me asking, wa that the only thing you think that led you to become waitlisted?

I'd be glad to tell you the factors that I believe led me to get wait-listed:
-I lacked any sort of science ECs
-Lack of demonstrated passion for STEM anywhere on my app
-GPA favored social sciences and English courses
-Didn't take a rigorous science course sequence
-My math score was the lower part of my combined SAT score
Finally, I think the tipping factor was that I didn't fit the model for a normal student there. I'm much more of an artsy student who does theatre, and choir and definitely showed that on my application and essay, in fact I'm certain it allowed me to get admitted to Geneseo! So it's tremendously important to show the adcoms that you would personally fit into their school.
