My results

SAT: 720 Verbal 750 Writing 650 Math (2120 new scale / 1370 old scale)
SAT II: Literature - 680 Chemistry - 590

GPA: 3.65 (weighted) on a 3.85 scale (my school is weird!)
Class rank: 7 / 193 (top 3%)

AP Exams: Chemistry - 2 English - 5

National Merit Scholarship Commendation

Dual high school program. I go to a regular high school in the morning and a magnet school of arts in the afternoon until 4:15 (study Creative Writing there). Earned me a total of 34 credits instead of the required 22.

Summer program at Wesleyan University
Poetry class at Trinity College
Chemistry class at University of Connecticut

10+ hours of community service per week

Publication in Trinity College's Lit. Mag.

I'm poor and not a legacy to any of these schools. I declared English as my major on all applications and checked Caucasian for ethnicity.

Columbia University - Rejected
Dartmouth College - Rejected
Georgetown University - Accepted
Johns Hopkins University - Accepted

Omg Scabooter, you and I are a lot alike. . .
I also had Writing & Verbal SATs in the 700s and the Math in the 600s, and I also attend a dual high school program. . .also for Creative Writing!
I'm poor & a non-legacy too. I'm really interested in Johns Hopkins as well. Did you emphasize your interest in writing on your applications?

Comments
I was somewhat surprised that I didn't get a couple more acceptances, but in the end, it made my decision easier. I applied to BC without visiting, and after seeing the campus and talking with students and faculty, I realized there isn't a place I'd rather be. I'm looking forward to the fall

Essays
My Penn & Berkeley essays were pretty bad.
My Rutgers, CMU & Northwestern were pretty good.
My UMich, Stevens & Cooper Union were not bad. They were decent.
My Hopkins essay was awesome.

Comments
I'm probably going to attend Hopkins or Michigan...and leave for Northwestern or Cooper if I get off the waitlist. ADMISSION TO A COLLEGE IS A CRAPSHOOT. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. If you have any questions, PM me.
