Oh, I agree; I'm just trying to put light upon why some choose not to, and may not have needed to.

so, there's this kid who lives in my area, he's pretty well known and there's been newspaper articles about him (!), and I have friends who know him, so here's what I know of his stats:

School: Private Christian
State: SC
Race: white

SATs: took when he was a freakin sophomore and got 1600/1600. Apparently took the new one and got 2300/2400.

GPA, etc: no idea but I'm sure they're stellar.

I think his biggest hook was tennis. . .he was ranked No.1 in the state for a while and is consistently ranked at the top.

Yeah. So, he ONLY applied to Harvard. . .and got in, of course.

Nope. My area has a lot of top national/regional players, so I keep up with the rankings and such. BTW, he's ranked #18 in the country.
