| I got into Brown (and going), but I did have pretty high SAT's, but my grades sucked and I had practically no EC's:
OK, so yeah CR 780 M 770 W 770
Math II, Chem, and Phyz 800
Ok so those might have gotten me in, buuuuuuuuuuttt...
I was 24/423 in the class, with only band, science olympiad, not starring in either, and a little bit of community service. No sports, no leadership.
White Male Californian with highly educated parents

Waitlisted: University of Chicago
Accepted: Brown, UC SB SD LA and B, Northwestern, CMC, Pomona
Brown seems pretty random with acceptance. I have a friend who did not get into brown, but who got into stanford, and I was rejected haha. |

Financial Aid was good pretty much everywhere. If you make less than 50,000 a year, expect almost a full ride from the ivies, and a really good deal everywhere else. I got a $48K package from Brown-No loans, all aid.
A few notes on the college process: Its dumb when people tell you not to stress out. It's stressful. Just remember that after all the letters come in you have a good 4 months to do whatever the hell you want. I skipped school for a week because I wanted to drive out to Chicago and it was awesome. Visiting really does help. Also, invest in a really nice dress shirt or a really nice winter ensemble from Bergdorf's or something for interviews. A killer outfit does a lot.
cheers
