| "dammit people here are so paranoid. Anyone can get into any school if they are reasonably qualified. It all comes down to what they are looking for that year. Write great essays and sell yourself to the school. Then let them make a decision and move on after that. The kind of people on this site at times get on my nerves. I know plenty of people with 1900 ish SAT scores who have gotten into the likes of dartmouth, cornell, stanford etc. What does it say on almost eerry college website? Usually something like WE AINT GOT CUTOFF SCORES .Just stop worrying so much people, please."
What about the opposite? If I have super high SAT scores, but no ECs at all, lousy recs and simple straithforward essays?

| If all you have are great test scores then you will likely be easily rejected by top schools. Particularly now as people are beginning to question the ability of standardized testing to predict future college peformance, my guess is that schools would really love to make an example out of the candidate who has done nothing to stand out in the pool other than score high on some test. |

| I dont think thats true. Scare tactic for what? Its not as if anyone would not apply to a school based off of what they've seen on this board. I think stats are reported accurately. I don't understand why anyone would lie. |

| It's the internet, there are lies everywhere you go. Some posts that are not true can discourage people. People lie for all kinds of reasons; it is true that a a portion of the people lie on this forum about their merits. It's better to know "actual" people that got into a certain school and then ask them for advice. |

| This site has made me feel like I don't try hard enough...That's probably why I'm a cynic regarding the trustworthiness of a lot of posters. |

This site is basically full of all the worried overachievers who need to self-validate (not that I don't fit into this category, just and observation), so yeah, even people with amazing stats are dwarfed here by the top handful of students in the nation. |

| Awesome, do you personally know him?
He just stuns me, wow, he's REALLY amazing. :O
How does one even get to know of all these opportunities in the first place? I don't even hear about 1/10 of those things he listed on his resume, but jeez... I need to like get in touch with him and beg him to find me all these opportunities. We apparently both have a common interest in leadership, politics, and law so that would actually work out quite well, haha.
