Accepted to all schools I applied to: Chapman University (attending), University of Redlands, University of San Diego, Santa Clara University, Loyola Marymount University, University of the Pacific

Classes: Mostly honors, 4 AP classes, a few regular, 3 foreign language year, no physics, Calculus
GPA: 3.3 UW
SAT: 690 CR, 660 M, 650 W 1350 V+M, 2000 total
SATII: 760 US History, 710 Literature
ECs: Band/jazz band, Science Olympiad, literary magazine, founded psych club, a few others
Personal, personality showing, good essay and good recs.
Aid: Scholarships ranging from $8000-15000 from all schools except LMU. Chapman gave best grant at $11000. SCU gave huge loan.

I'm satisfied as I got in my number one college, got enough money with my stats that suffered from my bad hs experience and am following my dream of going to California (and in the process getting away from my parents). Good luck to all future appliants.

^Well, not many people outside of the NE/Mid-atlantic know it that well, unless they're lacrosse fans.

Soccer: (Varsity, Club, Premier, Regional, National, International levels)
-Captain of Varsity, just started on the other teams that travelled around the country and world. personally, won some minor awards (allstar team selections). i was semi recruited by a few DIII schools but im not playing any more.

Track: (Varsity)
-Captain of Varsity, again recruited somewhat by DIII schools, but will run DI at Harvard.

Student Government:
- President and Student Judiciary, oversaw running of newly implemented leadership program.

Awards: National Merit Finalist ($ for Tufts), Cum Laude Society, AP Scholar w/ something, Harvard book award, RPI Medal, National Latin Exam 3x Summa Cum Laude, Soccer State Champion, Regional Champion

Interviews: I connect well with adults and the only interview that I thought didn't go well was the Harvard one. Quick anecdote, my Columbia guy was 2 hours late (we met in an inner city library on a weekday evening) and felt bad so he afterwards he told me he was giving me a "7 out of 7" for "patience".

Essays: I can write fairly well (ignore the SAT se vous plais)...wrote the extra essay for Harvard, main common app one was about my developed passion for medicine, Hopkins one was about my science research class and in the question about an EC on the common app i described a drill maneuver i performed.

Advice: Always go EA, even if you dont want to even go to the school, it takes a huge weight off your shoulders senior year. visit the schools and find what makes you happy, the name and the pamphlets are the worst things to base your decisions on...really take the time in April to spend time at the colleges youre deciding on. hope this helps...

Interviews

My interview at GW went extremely well. The only other interview I did was at the U of Chicago, which was terrible to say the least and kinda scared me away from doing any other interviews.

The interview started by him asking me where I lived, at which point he entered into a rant about how much he hated my town because it was too "elitist", and then told me about all his bad experiences there and his failure to buy a house there. His next question was "What don't you like about the U of Chicago", so I answered that I didn't like the workload and then he went into a rant about why I am doing an interview with something who hates the University so much. Later on in the interview he accused me of lying about my ECs. Then he cut the interview short and said he had to go to a "meeting" and gave me his card so that I could e-mail him if I wanted to continue the interview. I did, and 7 months later I'm still awaiting a response. I called the school twice, and they didn't help me any.

Notes

I'm terrible at math, which killed my GPA/rank and sunk my SAT/ACT scores. Plus I'm a finance major, which involves math, so that didn't help me any. I got a ton of scholarship money from DePauw, Indiana, & Loyola. Nothing from GW or Tulane.

I visited Chicago, NYU, Boston College, Tulane, and GW (twice).
