| I'm sorry ..But I guess I'm going to be the one to have to say it.
A 3.0 is a VERY low GPA to graduate with. You have no chance, what-so-ever, of being accepted into Harvard, Dartmouth, or any other ridiculous goal you put on that list. You'll have a hard time getting into Howard with a 3.0 - the average GPA THERE is a 3.2 ..For you, that's not a safety - It's a REACH. It's time for you to get real.
Harvard? Lol, that tickles me. My cousin applied to Harvard with a 4.2 GPA and got rejected (his stats were spectacular, and his extra curriculars were through the roof). Havard rejects 4 out of every 5 valedictorians.
But anyway ..I think it's time you snap back into reality and go ahead and apply to State, they may consider you. Bless your little heart.
Good Luck,
A Yale Graduate |

| Also, how do you expect to get accepted into Harvard when you don't even know if you'll graduate in the top 50% of your class?!
Out of a class of over 700? A 3.0 is probably bottom 50%. I'll say it again, get real.
Good Luck,
Someone who graduated with a 4.1 GPA |

| Maybe you should take the scam things off like poetry.com and who's who hahaha.
Also, things you did in 6th grade don't count as extracurriculars or awards. |

| somegirl seriously, jump off your pedestal.
signing your posts with:
"A Yale Graduate"
or "Someone that graduate with a 4.1GPA"
just makes you look like a snotty loser.
You can't assume you know EVERYTHING just because you graduate from freakin' Yale.
Get a life, and try to be considerate of other people.
You would think that with someone with an excellent education would be much more respectful and considerate. Clearly you have some self-esteem issues.
As for the girl applying:
You have a lot of unnecessary information, but I am sure you have realized this already. I would say write some kick-ass essays and shoot for the moon, at least you can land among the stars. IVY league is a "toughie", but if you show motivation and desire for a great education they may give you a shot. Remember too, that it's not the school that you go to, but how well you do there. Try applying to some decent state schools, like UVA or some state schools in Massachusetts like Worcester State. That way you have back-up!
Good luck! :] |

| I totally agree w/ Nicki about the whole thing somegirl said. At first when I read somegirl's post, I agreed a little because it IS true but when she signed it "a yale graduate' and the whole '4.1 GPA', it was pretty arrogant. (btw fyi somegirl, 4.1 is NOTHING now; i'm assuming thats weighted)
so basically, i dont have anything new to add but I was just mad about somegirl's obnoxious comments.. |

| I'm confused - why are you a "very very very special case"? You have a few good leadership positions that if played well (LTG for KC, some of the groups you founded), but remember there are several thousand high school'ers with the same leadership positions and achievments as you.
As a side note, I actually live near Saratoga too strangely enough, but more near Albany. I know the LTG for our district's key club, and you prob know her too. She's def. an interesting person.

| I would say that you don't have a good chance of getting into HYPS, but that you will probably get into Howard. I'm not a Yale graduate, nor do I have a 4.1, but having a 3.0 and getting accepted at Harvard would be unbelievable. Good luck with your application (though I would definitely remove all the fluff from your list of ECs, and I would only send in the three letters of rec they ask for), and if you get into Harvard, rock on! |

| She meant that her case is special because of the eating disorder and family issues she's had to deal with, leading to a lower GPA. |

| Chill with the title "very very very special case." Do you think Harvard is going to cut you slack because of an eating disorder? Because I don't.
Certainly cut down on many of the inconsequential ECs. After that, you have a solid list of activities and awards.
As for Harvard, with a B average, I'd say very little chance... If you were to dominate the SAT, you'd have a bit of a better chance, but still not particularly good (maybe 30-35%).
Dartmouth is possible if you score well on the SAT -- maybe 2150+. If you do so, and with solid SAT II scores, I'd say you might have roughly a 45-50% chance.
If you score at least about a 2050 on the SAT, I think you'll get into NYU (55-60%), University of Rochester (65-70%), and Howard (70-75%) with that legacy. |
