Attend rigorous magnet public high school in Georgia, Doesn't rank
Black male, family income below $50,000 a year
Gpa: 3.7 UW 3.89 W
SAT: 1520/2300, 720 Math, 800CR, 780 WR (superscore)
1480/2260, 720 Math, 760 CR, 780 WR (one sitting)
I've taken the SAT 3 times in all
APs: US History: 5, World History: 5, Physics B: 3
Subject Tests: Math IIc: 690 (retaking in a week) World History: 740 US History: 780
I'm interested in International Studies or Economics

Business Law

I currently have As in all my classes except for a 'C' in Calculus (which I'm working hard to get to a B). Even though my classes aren't designated 'Honors', they would probably be considered that at most schools

Im not a pro at chancing but...applying to MIT with a C in calc? i dont think thats good at all. Usually people i see who are applying to MIT, have high math and physics grades. in addition to having taken tests like the AMC, AIME etc..but on the other hand ur SAT scores are excellent.

I'm not applying to MIT! Nonetheless, my low math grade is a huge negative for the colleges I'm applying to. I hope to get it up by the end of the semester to at least a 'B'.

yes but he is a senior now....unless they ask for a midterm grade report..which im not sure if they do...they wont know till after they accept/reject him and if he were accepted he wouldn't get rescinded for a C.

Up the ante my friend ...add some more ivys

The common application schools do require a mid-year report, so if I don't get my 'C' up by then, I'm sure they'll know. And as far as more Ivy's... I think I have enough Ivy-type schools as it is.

1st time (Nov Junior year): 710 CR 640 Math 720 WR (2070)
2nd time (may Junior year):760 CR 720 Math 780 WR (2260)
3rd time (Oct senior year): 800 CR 680 Math 710 WR (2190)
Hopefully I can destroy the Math IIc this coming Saturday and show that I'm pretty good at math. and btw... I'm not applying to MIT!!!
