Average student who wants to go to State university

Hi Guys, I screwed up freshman and sophomore year, pretty bad.... so I need help because I am worried about State schools, yeah State lol...

chance me
2.7 GPA
2 D's in Algebra 1/2
2 D's in Chemistry
2 D's in Spanish 3/4

so heres the info,

I got a 21 on the ACT, pretty average right? I got a 22 on Science section so should that even out my D's in Chemsitry?

I am retaking the ACT in June and September and October untill I get the minimum 22, but what I am worried about most is my defficiencies, will they accept me with that many defficiencies? I really dont want to be a senior in a freshman class next year, but if thats what it takes...

I am an Arizona resident hopefull to go into any of these colleges

Arizona State
University of Arizona
Northern Arizona University

all of them post a 22 ACT score for admission, but the defficienies... Idk, help please?

My junior year GPA should be about a 3.4

My classes for next year are...

English Senior
Pre Calculus
AP Economics(Micro/Macro)
POS 220 (Political Science)
Speech and Debate

As long as your grades are improving, you should be fine. Dont mess up and get some EC going on if you can, but you shouldve started that a long time ago. And remember to count your core gpa only. They mostly look at that unless one of the electives are more academic.

thank you, but ASU says they dont look at EC's so Idk, but I'm just worried about the D's heres what they say about deficiencies, can someone interpret it to English lol?

Admission may be granted with one deficiency in no more than two competency areas. Deficiencies in both math and laboratory science are not acceptable. Students must earn a minimum 2.0 in any subject area. Most competencies may also be met by test scores or college courses. See Detailed Competency Requirements for more information.

ACT Science-20 (subject test score may not be from the same subject as either high school credit earned and may be used to satisfy only one laboratory science unit)

il give you some good advice, first of all, do well this coming year. Universities want to see improvement. If you buckle down and take this year seriously, try to get a 24+ on your ACT, you should be fine. remember though, you have to show the universities that your attitude has changed. Show them that You are no longer the same freshmen/softmore you were, and th ebest way of doing that is either through your essay, but most importantly, your grades. Good luck!

ASUhopeful, according to our general info session at ASU you need only to meet one of four criteria. Take that ACT again or hit the mark on the SAT. You probably don't have the class rank or the gpa so work really hard to get those grades up before school breaks for summer. Check their website for details for in-state.

ASUhopeful, I think the 3.4 this year will look good and you seem determined to improve your ACT score. I think you should be fine. Also, Utah and Utah State may be worth a look if you want to add some more schools to your list. Their tuition may be a little more for out of state, but it is not outrageous and their admission requirements are similar to the Arizona schools you are looking at. Best of luck!
