This URM needs to know his fate

Im a high quality URM wondering if my lack of community service will hurt my chances at the top schools(top 25 or so). I have good test scores, gpa,and ec's except that I havent done any community service. I havent had the time. Am I screwed?

you still have time to do some this summer, but i doubt that it's going to completely kill your chances of getting in.

you're probably better off not being too worried about it as long as you have some other impressive ECs

There should be plenty of time from now to the application deadlines, if you're a junior. If you're a sophomore, then so much the better.

You can also think in terms of quality versus quantity of hours, if you don't have the time, and look for higher profile volunteer opportunities.
