I guess both the prelim AND the predicted grades matter. Although MIT does say it does not require a mid year report from internationals...

By the way, 84% in ICSE, not CBSE.... My science + Math = 92% and I bombed my other subjects.... CBSE Math makes me laugh...

actually, the reason, pure and simple, why 100% Tuna would never get into MIT is because of the single fact that he doesn't have any international award for science. No, i'm not talking about NASA ames or anything! think international olympiads, award-winning research at ISEF, published research in some prestigious journal! MIT LOVES those, and they have more than enough such qualified Singapore applicants to fill up the slots.

thankfully for the rest of us, myself included, the other universities aren't so anal about such stuff good luck tuna, your name is making me hungry.

Rule of thumb - 90+ in ICSE is more than awesome, while you need more in CBSE to reach that level of awesome. Just based on hearsay folks, don't hold me at gunpoint for this statement.

Haha I shall laugh at all you poor dudes who have prelims *mwahaha* Oh, I'm sooo *****y Do hope you guys are doing well, though.

1234d, galoisien, the type of people going to Harvard are Prez Scholar while MIT is ISEF/I__O etc. It's quite different, alot different. Since the admissions standards for intels are so high, it's impossible to bridge the divide (though we'll see if our darling l i q i a n can get in ^^)

beg to differ. tuna is indian not singaporean so he can't even go for isef and i__o. but perhaps publication... well 2012 mit batch had one china scholar dude from hwachong but he's imba **** (4 olympiad gold medals ...) just to throw that out.

Ps. im doing my god-given task of keeping the singaporean threads alive. w00t.

yeah i do know that guy, i'd have been in his batch if not for NS i guess we could all agree that 4 olympiad medals, even local ones, are collectively more impressive than one international olympiad medals. imagine how you have to master 4 different subjects. but did he really have 4? ?!?! im pretty sure he didn't take bio. unless he took informatics =/

yes, tuna wasn't eligible for the international ones, but i think MIT would still expect you to make full use of all available opportunities or even seek new ones for yourself. erm i think that "china scholar dude" who-shall-remain-unnamed-but-is-quite-obvious-if-you're-interested-in-those-things more than did that.

iirc he had some pretty impressive research too. MIT is still a tech school after all, and i don't think tuna fits in their mould.

FIONA, on the other hand.... :P

oh fiona i can name you quite a few PSC and President's scholars who went to MIT! but I agree with you in general. still, i've no doubt that anyone who gets in MIT would have a good shot at Harvard too. think all the I__Os. ANY top school would be impressed.

btw, that prc scholar who got 4 olympiad golds is really really imba
but 100% tuna, even if you are as good as him, you aren't assured of a place everywhere. he didn't get into harvard i think
