Sorry, I just sat here for 10 minutes trying to think up an eye-catching title. So here are my stats:

**Retaking once more to get a 2200.**
SAT 2s: I have not taken them yet.
ACT: 31

Senior Year Courseload:
Hardest possible at my school
IB Physics SL
IB Theory of Knowledge
IB Spanish HL
IB History of Americas HL
IB English HL
AP Government(No IB available)
AP Economics (No IB available)

Work Experience:
I have had 2 jobs since the beginning of high school. During the weekdays I work 3 hours a day afterschool at Chik-Fil-A and during weekends I work full time at my dad's store. All the money goes to my parents for rent. Yea, we're pretty poor haha.

Awards:
Istar Suma Award 4 years.(Religous Award for Academic Excellence)

Various local Math competions

College List:
COLUMBIA (Dream school). I dont know if i should apply ED or RD. ED has a higher acceptance rate, but if i apply RD i can squeeze in my first semester senior year grades so my rank goes higher, as well as GPA. (any suggestions?)

I have the same problem with wanting to squeeze in my first semester for rank, but ED would probably be the best route. I don't think moving up in rank is going to make you or break you, unless it's a huge jump.

All I can say is it looks good. Maybe raise the CR on SAT a bit. Since your household income isn't very high, you could probably get a lot of financial aid/scholarships. By the way, the title made me laugh so hard. XD

uhhhh I would apply ED.

in fact, for the longest time, I was going to apply early.... so take my advice with a grain of salt -- I may be trying to live vicariously through you!

Do ED. The URM part will help and if it is your dream, go for it. You're in the top 10% so I think your rank is fine. Good Luck!

COlsen573, what the hell are you talking about? Yes, the OP is an URM... so what?

SwallowedGum, I think you have a decent chance at all of your schools. Bring up your SAT score and I you'll have a better chance at the ivies.

titan124, no argument there

he definitely wasn't "white" or "black" so he must've been middle eastern...

i wonder what he'll look like when he comes back...
but then again, i'm not christian so i'm not even supposed to believe in that :/

I'd say great chances.. sorry but i'll be honest with you. your scores are horrible. especially since you haven't taken subject tests.. if you can really get a 2200+ and a 750+ on three subject tests then you'll have great chances at columbia..

ED is for the best applicants so i would go RD..

Well, lets not get into the Jesus debate lol.

Anyway, I think the OP has great chances for Columbia considering all scores being where they are predicted. ED would increase your chances.

Does it have to be a university? Why not diversify your list with some top Liberal Arts Colleges with good percentages in diversity statistics, and large endowments for need-based scholarship money? To name a few: Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan, Swarthmore, Oberlin... I get the sense that NYU and UT are down as your safeties, but maybe those LAC's would be reach/matches (none is a safety).

Just a thought. Some people only want university communities. There are about a zillion threads on CC about university vs. LAC, as both have merits. Depends what's right for you.
