NYU dreamer -please help :-D

ok so before i continue let me just state the following:

i know that with my top choice (NYU) i'm utterly
crazy (hey i dream big i guess), and probably even crazier for considering ED (but i figure since my GPA is so low my chances may be better with ED since there wont be as many applicants thus they can really get into my application), especially after reading many of the other threads here of kids that want to go there or other top schools too (3.7 gpa a dud? are u KIDDING ME? 2030+ sats just GOOD, pishposh) but i figure its my dream school and i'm working HARD to remedy my F...ups

ok so here we go

GPA (dundundun): 2.4 (as of today, though i'm nearly 100% positive that i raised it to either a 2.5 or 2.6 this yr, but i dont find these things out til september)

SATs: 1540 = 610 critical reading, 420 math, 510 writing

SATIIs: 580 Literature, 510 US History

both tests i plan to retake:
reading i'm planning on brining up to ATLEAST a 630, math i'm not even sure yet - just know i gotta bring it up as much as i can, and writing i need to bring up to the 600s.
i plan on retaking the subject tests aswell: i plan to bring both up to a 600.

i also plan to try out the ACT.

Other School Stuff/Activites/Etc..
Honors English and History
2 History electives (i want to study anthropology/archaeology)
Drama Club
Glee Club
Drama Class Elective
NJPAC sponsored Drama Class (done @ my school)
Intering @ GlassRoots (glass blowing studio)
Accounting Careers Awareness Program Participant (@ Rutgers)
Rutgers Saturday History Academy (plan on doing that again this year)
IT/computer assemby program @ technology high
+ i'm getting a recommendation from an NYU alumni

sidenote:
i wanted to take an AP or advanced course, however my school only offers 1 AP class (bio) and u had to have a B/B+ or higher in order to do it (i had a C/C+). we also had an advanced class (chem) but once again u had to have certain grades (a b+/higher whereas i only had a B, i really liked chem too)
i swear my school REALLY makes it hard sometimes.
also i've heard that some schools if u want you can sign up for honors class, but my school you had to be placed into it, otherwise many of my other classes would have been Honors aswell.

so yea guys thats it i guess.

mainly i want to be chanced for NYU
but i'm also considering:
Hartwick
Eugene Lang
Hawaii Pacific
Rutgers
Virginia Commonwealth
Edinborough

sadly, schools ride heavily on that gpa factor. How rigorous of a course load have you taken? if it is extremely rigorous you could stand a chance. Im in a similar boat in terms of gpa, I have a 3.6 uw because i didnt try at all and didnt do hw and now im looking at cc [seriously, but for tuition purposes]. I would say NYU is a medium reach. If you ended up taking the ACT and doing well, 30+ then it would probably be a reach. NYU I have heard is a safety for many ivies so therefore anybody who applies ED has much greater chances because the ivy applicants wont end up going there.

my courseload has been pretty rigorous - the courseload in general @ my school is pretty rigorous (for example i have a 2.4 at my school but @ one of the local public schools i'd have @least a 3 if not higher, or at my friends school which is also private i'd have a 3 definately and probably higher), which is one thing that kind of makes me feel good and bad at the same time - the load was rigorous and i did decent and brought things up BUT it makes me scared because that may work against me.

yea i'm hoping applying ED will work in my favor but also money is an issue too (uggh) when i go for my visit i'm gonna ask if their financial aid office does estimates and if so then i'll see what i may possibly be getting if i were to get in and if its good then i'll apply ED

thanks 4 ur help

n e one else possibly able to help for my chances w/ the other schools?
