Chances for little bro

Okay, so my brother asked me to post a thread on here for him. Here are his stats, etc.:

-1840 combined SAT (660 math, 590 verbal, 590 writing)
-3.47 GPA on 4.0 scale
-Top 35% of class at well-known Private HS
-5 APs = Spanish 5, US, Euro, Gov, Biology (not sure what his scores were)
-2 Varsity sports (Hoops and Lax); Captain of Lax senior year, both teams won state championship (it's Rhode Island, so not that big a deal haha)
-VP and very active member of school's Pro-Life Club, also Peer Mentoring, Big Brother program, and Habitat for Humanity
-15+ hours per week of community service
-Speaks near-fluent Spanish and went on a Habitat-esque mission trip to Peru as an alternative spring break last year

He wants to know where he stands at these schools:

Reach: Notre Dame, Georgetown, Boston College
Match: Loyola MD, U Richmond, Fordham, Catholic U

Thanks for the input! And also he doesn't post on here so you can be brutally honest ; )

His GPA, class rank, and SAT scores are a bit low for some of those schools. Georgetown and Notre Dame are therefore huge reaches unless he takes the SATs again and gets above a 2000. If he wants he can also take the ACT though, some people tend to do better on that. Also, he needs to get back on track in terms of grades. First semester of senior year tell him he needs to get all As if possible, and get that class rank up to at least the top 20%. BC is also a pretty big reach, and the others are probably slight reaches to matches.

I agree with sak09... unless he gets his GPA and SAT scores up, Georgetown and Notre Dame are huge reaches. He probably has a good chance for Loyola, Richmond, and Catholic (I don't know much about Fordham). I would look at some of the state schools (I don't know enough about RI schools to be a lot of help) and see what options are available there. And find a one or two safety schools in case the other schools don't work out.
