The Answer To The Meaning Of Life!

The Meaning is to Chance One Another

Hey guys,

I am going to try this for the last time because responses have been slow lately. Anyway, here we go! I am an international IB student and i want to go into Pre Med. I am not sure about my major yet but i will figure that out soon enough. I am a South Asian Male who is a first generation immigrant to Canada. As for my Stats, I have straight As(80+ in Canada) in my Freshman and Sophmore years with approx. 3.8 GPA and then a 3.82 GPA. Upward Trend!

Rank: Top 5%. Around 3 or 4/100

SAT 1: 670 CR, 750 Math, 720 Writing (Total:2140) I am going to improve to 2200+ hopefully.

SAT Subject Tests have not been taken yet. However, they should be 700-750 Range.

Volunteer Work: (This is what i am going to stress in my application)
(~500 hours)
-Canadian Cancer Society-50 hours
-Canadian Red Cross-50 Hours
-Youth Assisting Youth-130 Hours
-Bridge Point Hospital-100 Hours
-Muscular Dystrophy Canada-60 Hours
-Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-50 Hours
-Senior's Care In North Toronto-60 Hours

ECs: (As you can see, i do not really join everything. Rather, i like to focus on a few clubs)
-Founder/President of Free Tutor Center
-President of South Asian Club
-Empowered Student Partnership
-Elected Grade Rep. to Student Council
-Tech. Crew Member
-Debate Club Member
-Asian Club Member
-Passionate Soccer, Squash and Ping Pong player

Awards:
-I am what they call ' Ontario Scholar'.. basically someone who achieves all As. About 5-10 students get this per grade.
-I have gotten many certificates for achieving top percentile in the Waterloo Math Contests. A Few medals here and there for Math Contests.
-Ranked 4th out of 1000 in our school at Ping Pong if that counts for anything. We have no Asians lol

The following are possible colleges i am going to. Please chance honesty. Let me know about my chances, what i need to improve etc.

Johns Hopkins(ED)
Cornell
U of Chicago
U of Michigan
Emory
NYU
McGill
UW-Madison
Harvard(I have 65$ to spare)

Feel free to suggest some places. Chances are appreciated..no jokes! Thanks.

I am thinking JHU is your first choice because of ED? If so, i think you have a good shot. As for most of the other schools, you have a good shot too except Harvard. lol sorry.

Johns Hopkins(ED)- low reach
Cornell- low reach
U of Chicago- low reach
U of Michigan- low reach/ high match
Emory- high match
NYU- match
McGill- safety
UW-Madison- safety
Harvard-high reach. donate your 65$ to charity.

Overall, i think yu will get into some if not a lot of those schools. You may also want to look into University of Pittsburgh. It fits in with what you are looking at. Good luck.

If you write passionate, unique essays and have good recommendations, i cannot see what will hold you back from a lot of those on your list.

McGill is probably a safety because you are from Canada. Haha, Harvard is a big reach but then again, some people with your stats sometimes get in. Never say never!

Good Luck to you!

Thankyou guys for your chances and essays are definitely something i will work on. Hmm.. U of Pittsburgh.. thanks i will look into that.

McGill right now is my safety because it is fairly easy for Canadians to get in there. May be a different story for Canadians. Anyway, more chances are appreciated.

sorry, Shad, the question has already been answered by Douglas Adams...it's 42. If you want to know the actual QUESTION to the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything, you'd have to read the book

ohh by the way, I chanced you at your other thread.
