Chance your Typical American Guy

I dont have any desire to go to an Ivy League, its a combination of me not being able to get in and my thoughts that they are a complete waste of money. Im your average guy with decent stats. Please tell me if you think I could get into these colleges
* Clemson U----my sister and brother-in-law are alumni
* U South Carolina
* Coastal Carolina U
* UMASS Amherst
* UNC Chapel Hill
* James Madison
* U Delaware
* Penn State
* Villanova
* Elon U


White male from Boston

GPA : 3.4UW, a lot higher weighted
Class Rank: Top 30%, competitive high school, 250ish students in my grade

SAT :
Math - 660
CR - 610
W - 660
Total- 1930

ACT :
Composite - 30 (top 3%)
English - 27 (top 13%)
Math - 28 (top 8%)
Reading - 30 (top 9%)
Science - 35 (top 1%)
Writing - 10 (top 2%)

Most classes taken have been honors, honors english, bio, physics, chem, us history, modern world history, early world history, french. Taking AP Gov and Bio next year.

EC's
* Swim Team all 4 years, made it to states all years, Rookie of the year in 9th grade, will be captain this year.
* Model U.N
* French Club
* Missions Trip to the Dominican Republic and West Virginia
* 6 month foreign exchange to Australia (AFS Intercultural Programs), lived with a host family, went to high school there, and traveled.
* Voulenteer with AFS Intercultural Programs, organizing events and meetings, leading a group at orientations.
* Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Camp Counselor
* Voulenteer at a Nursing Home

Essay
Beginning stages of it. I think Im going to write about the different cultures I have experienced and how they have helped determine what i want to do in the future as well as how they have shaped me and changed my outlook on life.

Intended Major : International Relations or International Business. Strongly leaning towards International Relations

I think you have a decent chance at most of them, and I agree with you on the Ivy League thing... like a lot of people go to them and end up with $200,000 debt and end up making the exact same money as someone who didnt go to an Ivy.

Ivy League schools do not make students repay them for financial aid.

a lot of people? like who?

you're more likely to accrue debt at a non-Ivy than an Ivy. actually, you can't even accrue debt at Ivies anymore.

and those people who end up as successful as Ivy grads aren't "typical American guys" like the OP described himself to be. they are above average students who still have to work extremely hard to prove themselves.

no need to bash Ivy's just because you feel you can't get in.

There was a study done a little while ago (no link, sorry ) comparing the salaries of those who went to the Ivies and those who were accepted at the Ivies but chose not to go. It found that there was no significant disparity between their incomes...

i just think Ivies are over rated. there are hundreds of amazing schools for half the tuition of an ivy league. haha but thats not the point od this thread, anyone else wanna chance me?

okay guys.. so people who go to ivies and obviously have no scholarships and whose parents do not pay anything from their tuition.. how do they pay? and for you blue gatorade or whatever the heck ur name is.. i can give a whole list of people i PERSONALLY KNOW. so shut up
