The UT Business school is very very hard to get into. Last year i think it was that you had to be in the top 1% of your class... which you have ... but you also have to have great scores... your scores are GOOD but they aren't great.. I think you can easily raise your ACT by 2 points and that will increase your chances. UT Austin, since practically 1/4 of my school applies there, makes it harder for out of state students to get in. Since they are a public school that recieves funding from Texas, I think like at least 70%, it may be higher , of the students must come from Texas... so the spots for out of state students is limited.. But remember UT has 55,00 students . So each entering class is around 13, 750 students. So really 4,125 students are from out of state which is the size of some small LACs. Increase those scores a bit and your chances should skyrocket. There is also the possibility that you could get into UT but not the major.

I don't know about the other schools that much so I can't really help you there . Good Luck!

I think you have a decent chance at all the schools you listed, but the AP Biology and Chemistry scores may potentially cause issues. Either retake the two or maybe withhold them.

Other than that, you have impressive grades and an impressive class rank, which will definitely strengthen your application.

Good luck on your applications.

Don't worry about the AP scores... just report the 5 and the three's if the they give credit and just leave out the others... the schools aren't going to inquire and force you to tell them your scores in order to get admitted. In the end don't retake them unless you relearn the material and want to take them for yourself.. besides ... colleges will not recede your application cause you got a 1 on some AP exams...

Just a thought... I see you have Santa Clara and USD on your list. You might add University of San Francisco as a back up - also Jesuit, and they have a guaranteed $19,500/year scholarship for students with your qualifications: University of San Francisco (USF) - FAQ (scroll down the page to the question about University Scholars.)

Here is a recent thread about USF: University of San Francisco

Thanks for the replies, does anyone have more tips? So basically, I'm guessing I should just try to raise my ACT a bit more to be competitive for UT?
