Need some more colleges with good engineering or business programs. (Not sure what I wanna major in yet.)

Public High School Information:
-Location: Long Island, New York

-Competitive and sends students to ivies every year

-class rank/size: No rank, probably around top 10%/ ~350 students

All number with * mean projected scores

-Unweighted GPA: Freshman - ~3.62

Sophomore - Senior*3.80

-Weighted GPA (4-Scale): Freshman - 3.91
Sophomore - Senior: aiming for 4.0

-# of AP/IB/honors courses: *~14

-SAT scores - Probably around 2200. Expecting Math: 800 CR: 700 Writing: 700

-SAT II scores: *Biology 720(Taking next week) *Math II 800 *Chemistry 750 *Physics 750

Still not sure about which SAT II scores to send in with the new collegeboard policy.

Honors and Awards:

-Lexus Environmental Challenge National 1st prize winner w/ group (9th grade, hopefully 10th grade too) This competition isnt very well knew since it is rather recent.

-Moved on to AIME from AMC (going to try to get into AIME this year)

-National Merit Commended Scholar (semifinalist would be nice, but I don't think its possible for me)

-All-State Band 2 years

-Will try for Val or Salutatorian but 90% chance it wont be me

Essays and Recs would be pretty good, not stellar though.

Additional Information

-Family is Taiwanese not Chinese.

-Does not need financial aid



So basically what I'm asking in this thread is what are my chances now and how would I improve them.


One big question I have is whether or not researching with a mentor over the summer at an university would influence the college's decision majorly.

The research would probably take place during my rising junior summer and rising senior summer.

This would lead to me participating in Intel, ISEF, and Siemans.
I'm fine with the researching, but the thought of being in those competitions makes me non-motivated.


My second question is what is the best combination for the 2 summers from the following choices if I do not do research:

- Around 200 hour community service in Flushing, New York helping with local councilman election

- Going to overseas program in India or Africa to fight hunger / Go to Taiwan and teach children English

-Get into SSR or another competitive science/math summer program.

Wow bro, you're absolutely ridiculous? What the hell are you doing? You came onto a college forum as a sophomore and posted the scores you think you're going to get on upwards of 15 exams? That is RIDICULOUS. Go to school, focus on studying and getting A's. Participate in extra-curricular activities that you are passionate about. Come back at the end of your junior year, and post the scores you ACTUALLY got. There is no possible way that you can guarantee you get those scores. NO WAY. And about your summer plans, do research at a university IF YOU WANT TO. Don't do it because you want to get into an ivy league school! WOW!

Those are projected scores, they really mean nothing until you actually get the score since your projected scores can vary significantly. BTW I'm also from long island and a sophomore and took the SAT 2 Bio in my freshman year and got a 730. What a coincidence
