I want to go to UT Austin

ok i want to major in biology and eventually become a doctor
i am in the top 20 to 25% so i am not guaranteed acceptance
i am an instate applicant
my sat score is 1450 (m+CR)
i participated in clubs and did other ecs
going to become an officer in red cross or my JETS clubs at my school
played varsity tennis

what are my chances and if it is low what can i do in order to be able to get admitted and eventually get into my bio major

also, if i apply to a different course in natural sciences and get in do i lose a whole year's worth of education if a transfer over to biology

Thanks and i appreciate all the helpful suggestions!

I read recently that nearly 90% of UT admittances came from the top 10% rule.

It is very tough to secure a UT-Austin acceptance without top 10%. I have seen numerous wonderful (although not top 10%) students get rejected. However, it seems to me that since UT-Austin is a state school, it weighs test scores a lot when deciding which non-top ten percent students to admit. Your scores are strong, but what is your writing score?
