Chance me please!

I generally avoided the chance me stuff because I know people are going to tell me that most of my schools are reach...dream...impossible but here I am

Stats:
Avg. 91.3 (freshmen year destroyed me)
SAT: (taken once) M: 740 V: 630 W: 730 (1370 and 2100)
SAT II's:
Math II:730 US History: 690 Literature: 670

AP's taking: AP statistics and AP Calculus AB

EC's:
Volunteer at Hospital since sophmore year (includes Outreach: going into community and raising awareness)
Worked at same hospital last summer
Member of National Honor society

Subjective:
Essays: Decent? Edited by two teachers. One said good, one said okay.
Teacher recs: One by teacher who knows me well. Other not so well.
Counselor Rec: Does not know me very well.

Location:
State: NY
School: Very competitive public school (very large class size like 700 ish?)
Ethnicity: Chinese
Gender: Male

Schools: Lehigh, Lafayette, Columbia, Vassar, JHU (only applying to JHU cuz of my parents actually), Hamilton, BU, Brandeis. (is that too long of a list?)
My counselor wants me to add more safeties..and I feel i should because well you just saw my stats. :/ horrible EC's

Lehigh - match
Lafayette - match
Columbia - hate to burst your bubble, but no chance
Vassar - low reach
JHU - low reach
Hamilton - unfamiliar
BU - match
Brandeis - unfamiliar

More safeties? I don't think so...at most the best state school in your state.

Return the favor?

First of all, I think you have a decent shot at most of your schools. Your GPA looks to be solid; however, without any indication of how that compares to your classmates, it's hard to say that for sure... at some high schools an A- average is excellent, while at others it can put you below the 25%-quartile. Moving on, your SAT I score is solid for most of your schools... the verbal score is a bit low, but your math and writing scores are both excellent.

Your extracurriculars are, overall, a bit lacking in quantity. Hopefully, however, you'll be able to make up for that somewhat by discussing your hospital involvement somewhere on your application. If you can show dedication in that, I think you will be okay.

Lehigh University... GOOD FIT.
Lafayette College... LIKELY.
Columbia University... HIGH REACH.
Vassar College... REACH.
Johns Hopkins University... REACH.
Hamilton College... REACH.
Boston University... LIKELY.
Brandeis University... SEMI-REACH.

You could do with having a few more semi-reaches, good fits, likelies, and safeties on your list. I think you have a good shot at a lot of your schools; however, I'm really not sure how much you're going to be hurt by your ECs. If you're still looking at adding some schools, here are some to think about...

SEMI-REACH: Bates College (ME), New York University (NY), University of Rochester (NY)

GOOD FIT: Bucknell University (PA), College of the Holy Cross (MA), Trinity College (CT), Connecticut College (CT), George Washington University (DC)

LIKELY: Skidmore College (NY), Gettysburg College (PA), Franklin & Marshall College (PA), Wheaton College (MA), Northeastern University (MA), Dickinson College (PA), Fordham University (NY), Villanova University (PA), Syracuse University (NY)
