I am an IB diploma student
ECs: Not too many clubs and whatnot but...I am working at a CPA firm doing accounting. I have become a valuable asset to his company (Im charged out at $60+ an hour) and will continue working there until i leave for school. I may start working soon directly for Marc Ostrofsky (look him up on wikipedia), but it is not set in stone. I am also lent out to law firms and other companies.
Also Ive played 4 years of soccer (2 varsity) at a 5A school that it number 2 in houston.
I am also an accomplished guitar player. Taught at a few summer campls, and played many concerts.
So judging from this what do you think my chances are of being accepted to Cornell ED??

shuttupp!! i wishh i hadd your stats
congratss on psats, soo jealouss--clearly im only going to be commended
you have more than a chance at cornell ED, at least in my opinion
the gpa is a little on the lowish side but hey 1540 is nothing to sneeze at
IBs are mad tough, i hear they are worse than APs, so that whole "challenging course-load aspect" is really working in your favor
and tho you say you don't have many "clubs", the things you do have, esp. your job, looks like things that you are passionate in and quality is always better than quantity
good luck, you seem like a great candidate

I dont kow much about IBs, al lmy school has is APs, but it looks like youre taking a ton of them. And your PSAT is great and so is your SAT. I would definitely accept you at Cornell, especially with your dedicated ECs

you're gpa is a little low, but you have decent a SAT score and i think you're a URM, so you have a decent chance, esp. if you apply ED

The GPA is sort of low, but you do have great, specific ECs. HIGHLIGHT them in your essay- you have ground to cover academically, but I'd say high match overall.

I'm not sure what sort of scintillating discussion you can make about accounting, but your essays and scores should have no problem outweighing any doubts cast by your midrange GPA.
I'd give you a 70% chance.
Best of luck! Chance me? I need essay ideas... UCs and HYPS |

I agree with what most other people are saying - your GPA is pretty low for an Ivy League school. HOWEVER, you are taking the hardest possible classes (I'm in the IB, too!). How have you done in IB tests so far? If you're getting 6s or 7s, that might help make up for your GPA.
I've heard that Cornell is one of the easier Ivies to get into, so I definitely think you have a chance, but it will probab;y still be a bit of a reach.
Chance me for Brown and Swarthmore?
