79.8% out of 100%? you won't make it into Texas, Illinois or Michigan

Your 12th year grades won't be part of the consideration.

Your grades are a bit low for your list. Illinois and Mich would be super reaches for you. Texas also a big reach. Georgia Tech students have high GPAs.

Is that your entire SAT? What is the breakdown..

Math...
Critical Reading...
Writing....

Can your family afford to pay all of your college expenses (about $50-55k per year)?

Since the systems differ, ranking would tell us more than scores. Typically your grades would appear lower so I'm assuming you're probably in good shape for those schools and your scores certainly are. Needing money is another subject though.

Hi,

I have to be honest with you. Your SATs are low for your choices. The applicants to those schools will have SATs in the 600-800 in each section and GPA's in the mid 90's and above (at least an A- average). Your GPA is considered a B average. Your 11th year grades are B+.

Now... that doesn't mean that there aren't some great schools for you to go to

What will your major be? What is your career interest?

From this, we'll be able to make some better recommendations.

We want you to have some nice choices and some acceptances

BTW...can your parents pay $50k per year for you to go to any school.

MY GPA is 3.78 for 3 years (evaluated and certified by Josef Silny)

I want to do an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering.

Money is not at all an issue .

Where all you you people recommend me to apply. give me a range of 4-5 schools.

Purdue does not require SAT from me as I am from the CBSE curriculum (My grades are sufficient)

Preferably schools that would not require my SAT score (just TOEFL) .

I'm not sure which schools would be SAT optional for you. Anyone know? Is there a list somewhere that indicates which schools do not require the SAT/ACT from internationals?

Your SAT is equivalent to an ACT 24. Your SAT is in the 75th percentile.

Isn't English your first language? (guessing that since you're English) If so, why would you have to do TOEFL?

I'm still confused over your GPA....If your first 3 years of grades have percentages of 79.8%, 78%, and 88.24%, then I'm getting an average of around 82% which would be a GPA of around 3.1 uw, which is a B average. Anyone have a better figure?

But, either way...

some schools...

Iowa State
Auburn
Iowa
UAHuntsville
Miss St.
Valparaiso U
Gonzaga
Trinity (TX)
St. Louis U
Seattle U
LMU

Well...

Even with a tough curriculum, I think you need a range of reaches, matches, and safeties.

Which from your list (which are reaches) are your favs?

matches:

LMU
Gonzaga
Seattle U
Auburn
Trinity
Valparaiso

Safeties

Iowa State
UAHuntsville - excellent engineering program.
Miss St - very good engineering

dude, I think UMich, Texas, and Illinois are super reaches with that GPA/SAT.... you'd prob get into Drexel and Purdue, but Georgia Tech is also a sizable reach... I'd look at some of the lists above
