I am in the top 12% in my graduating class. 3.65 unweighted gpa. 4.3 weighted gpa. Taking all honors classes with some AP.

Involved in many extra curricular activities which includes varsity football, volunteering, and school clubs.

Will I get into Rutgers with my low Critical Reading score?

Would writing the essay better my chances?

I assume you are in-state? You should take the SATs again to get that CR score up, or try the ACTs for something different.
