Okay, my friend who shall remain nameless wants to attend UPENN.Yes, UPENN. However I believe her chances are slim to none and I want to see who agrees with me and if im just being a pessimist.

Nameless Friend:

-GPA: 4.3
-Rank: 9/324
-SAT: approx. 1690; not competely sure as she would tell me exact score since I did better than her.
-Plays field hockey & track
-Spanish National Honors Society
-National Honors Society
-Not completely sure about community service but lets say a decent amount.

Do you think with the stats provided she has a chance at such a prestigious university as UPENN? Just want fellow opinions as I dont want to be pessimistic or a downer and would rather her be realistic and aware of her chances.

Do they require SAT scores? Look up the average scores of those accepted to the school. That's the really (and I do mean really) weak part.

Next time you two are hanging out, casually bring up the UPENN SAT stats of this year's frosh class from their website and show her. She will be aware and can decide for herself to apply or not. She should still apply if its her dream school. Ya never know.

A URM will get a break, but the SAT score still needs to be much closer to 2000, preferably 2100.

Right now her SAT I score is more than 300 below the 50% median. Her chance of getting into UPENN is an absolute 0% unless she finds a cure to cancer in the next few months.

Yeahh unless there are some spectacular things shes gonna put on there that you aren't telling us It doesn't look too promising so competitive
