Essays:
About a personal struggle. The woman who reads college essays at my school (used to work for Rice admissions) liked mine so much that she is having her husband who is a professor at rice put in a good word for me there.

ECs:
4 years soccer at a 5A school
Academic Decathalon
Habitat for Humanity
Boy Scouts (Star Scout, Den Chief, Patrol Leader)
Worked full time at a CPA firm last summer, then did contract accounting for many businesses. Have a letter of rec from my boss
Taught guitar at a summer camp for young performing artists

Planning on majoring in Math

Oh and I got deferred from Rice ED, even with a huge legacy. Still dont get why...

Oxford College of Emory University: You'll get in in all likelihood.

Emory is harder, but you have a really good chance.

Cornell: reach (as always with Ivy Leagues)
Cornell is one of the easier Ivies to get into.

Colorado College-yes, probably
ACT Composite Score: Middle Range

Rice- mid reach...scores are good but rank not so much..eagle scout would look better
Northwestern- low reach/match
Cornell- low reach/match
Colorado College- in
Claremont McKenna- match
Vanderbilt- match
Emory- low reach/match..i go to emory right now...they care about diversity..standardized scores and good grades
Oxford College of Emory University- def in..no doubt
Occidental-in
Grinnell- in
