I would say that you have a good chance at all of those school. although wake forest out of state is kind of a crap shoot. Your academic statistics and test scores are definitely impressive. You've got a pretty rigorous curriculum with a lot of extracurriculars. I would think that even with a mediocre common app essay you would have a good chance at all of those schools. I would predict a 75% chance of getting into Northwestern.

Northwestern University - reach
Emory University - high match
Wake Forest University - low match
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor - low match
University of Southern California - low match
WashU-St. Louis - low reach
Georgetown - reach
Your statistics are strong, and you are a solid applicant, but I'm afraid that your race and your lack of national awards might hurt you a bit at the top schools, where the admissions come down to things like that. Your Common App essay (according to you) might be a negative factor as well. Regardless, you are going to succeed wherever you end up. It's Christmas Eve, and stores are packed. They need a Jewish express aisle... |

Northwestern University -- Admission (Possibly Low Reach)
Emory University -- Admission
Wake Forest University -- Admission
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor -- Admission (Possibly Low Reach)
University of Southern California -- Low Reach (A lot of Cali Competition)
WashU-St. Louis -- Reach
Georgetown -- Reach
Both Washington University and Georgetown are reaches for anybody, no matter how good your scores are.
And your academics are looking good. You have a solid GPA and test scores.
I would be a little worried about Northwestern though. They're really interested in communication skills, and if your essay is a little weak, that could be an issue for them. Make sure you have a good interview and solid recommendations.
Good Luck!
Chance Back, Please? Interested in Northwestern's Medill, but I don't have top grades... |
