The grades and SAT scores are outstanding, but those ECs are going to kill you - far less than mediocre. Honestly, you probably won't get in to any of those schools unless you can demonstrate that one of those activities takes up a TON of your time and energy.

Ok thanks but most of my time is spent on the nonprofit and the latin club. at least 20hrs/wk goes to the nonprofit--have involved over 500 kids, and the latin club where ive organized a competition among 10 local schools in latin.
I may not have explained it clearly before... but what do you think??? Thanks!!!

That greatly increases you chances, but is still far from a guarantee. Many strong applicants to those top schools do something major (20+ hours/week) in addition to being active in other activities, often in a leadership role. I'm not counting you out, but I'm letting you know that you could very well get waitlisted and have to fight pretty hard to get a seat at one of these schools.

"those ECs are going to kill you - far less than mediocre. Honestly, you probably won't get in to any of those schools unless you can demonstrate that one of those activities takes up a TON of your time and energy." i don't think thats true. you focus primarily on your interests/passions and took initiative, showing leadership. you didnt go all over the place and do everything like some applicants rather focused solely on what you genuinely liked. though HYP is a gamble for all applicants, you have a good shot at all of the other schools. also just out of curiosity why are you considering both cornell and dartmouth? cornell has 10,000 more students and a totally different curriculum/location, which dartmouth is small and isolated. chances... on right track? |

Well i agree that your EC's are a bit weak, but your GPA/scores are outstanding. As long as they understand how much work you've put into the nonprofit / latin club, you should be fine.
UPenn Princeton Harvard - reach for almost everyone..
Brown - reach
Cornell - low reach
Dartmouth - low reach
so yea.. you can try to build your EC's over the summer? haha and 'asian instrument'? Chance a junior! please=) |

just build up your ECs as everyone says, I feel other than that you'll get into probably two of the Ivies, which two, who knows, becasue that's how they roll.
But I think you are certaintly a solid candidate

Princeton..............with a well done app you have chance
Harvard...............its all luck at this point
Brown.................low reach
Cornell..............match
Dartmouth.........match
You need more ECs unles your non profit is insane
do you have any good recccs?
For all of those schools just having great numbers (which by the way yours are insanely amazing congrats) wont get you in.... you need to show admissions who you are and why your way more than just really smart.
