I'm a junior in high school now. What are my chances of getting into NYU Stern Early Decision with these stats?
GPA: 3.37 weighted (school doesn't do unweighted GPA)
SAT: 560 CR, 650 M, 720 W (1930 combined, plan on retaking it though)
ACT: 27 (hope to retake that also)
Class Rank: N/A (no class rank in school)
So far taken only 1 AP, but senior year taking 2 AP's.
-various honors classes throughout high school
-a few hours of international community service
-tennis player
-involved in various clubs (Junior Statesmen of America, Forensics, etc...)
-piano player
-I should have good teacher/guidance counselor recommendations and I should write a good essay.
-I don't need financial aid (if that matters)
There is a girl with lower stats than yours who got in last fall ED at NYU. She ended up having to decline because she didn't know that NYU was lousy with aid.
However, be sure that your parents are willing and able to pay the full freight.
Mom2, while that may be true for the general NYU, Stern is one of the toughest schools to get into in the US...as it stands, you have very little chance.
Yeah I thought I wouldn't have much of a shot either. The only reason I'm asking is because my school is pretty competitive and a few people in my school have applied early decision to NYU with a lower GPA and SAT score than me and somehow gotten in.
