And my Amherst offer was the worst compared to all my schools (haven't received William's though)

When are we going to learn about our financial aid offer? I'm sick of waiting...
P.S. I'm an international.

Is it weird that I was accepted to 10 liberal arts colleges and my worst financial aid packages came from Williams and Amherst? And worst by far.

^It seems to me you're an international applicant, daniel. That could play a role in it.

Yes... but I was also an international when many other LAC's accepted me with way better financial aid awards. Furthermore, Williams is supposedly need-blind for internationals and its policy is to meet "100% of demonstrated financial need."

williams is need-blind to internationals, i'm surprised that there is so much discrepancy in your aid across different colleges - which are the ones giving u the best offer, so far, danielcarp17? good luck.

I just got the financial aid letter from Williams today....
I was very satisfied because their expected family contribution was less than my parents were willing to pay. Yale's offer was hard to beat though.... I think Williams was very generous. |

If you're interested in following up/pursuing the Williams offer, contact the FA office and let them know what your other (better) offers are. Williams, like other colleges, will often try to meet the awards of other schools -- particularly those it considers to be its "peers."

i think williams package was very good. It was about the same as many of the other LACs i applied to such as connecticut college, wesleyan univ., and colgate but williams was actually the best because there is no loans - all free money in grants and scholarships
ps. o and i just recieved my FA package today if anyone is still waiting

Yep my FA package arrived yesterday as well. They give me more than I asked for, so I think they are quite generous.

Wow, Williams gave me $25,000 in financial aid and all schools I was accepted to (including Yale) said I was ineligible for aid.
What's up with this? It seems too good to be true. Is there anyway they could have seriously messed this up?
If I show this to Yale would they consider matching it?
My dad is a farmer, which really skews our income, so I think that could be reason Williams determined we had need when other schools didn't. The difference is just incredible though..

My financial aid package was awesome, but not as good as some other LACs, ie Oberlin, because I got a huge merit scholarship. However, I appealed and after reviewing my situation, Williams is giving me $4,000 more. Now, by far THE BEST finaid from everywhere, including Dartmouth and Middlebury (peers). So generous, so grateful
