Scripps anyone?

My D is seriously considering attending Scripps (that is if she is accepted). I have basically seen no mention of it in this forum. Does anyone have opinions about it? Is the school as competitive as the 7 sisters?

Scripps has its own forum with several very helpful posters. Look for it under the alphabetical listing of colleges.

Yes, I already looked there, but the forum is pretty small. I was wondering why it is not mentioned in this forum which is all about woman's colleges in general.

Recent Scripps graduate here. What would you like to know?

In terms of admissions competitiveness, I'd say that Scripps is at least as competitive (if not more so) as several of the Seven Sisters. This is based on both statistics and anecdotal admissions experiences, from both me and my college freshman sister.

I almost went to Scripps, but ended up with Smith instead because I wanted to move farther from home. I would say it's maybe not mentioned in the forum because people in these forums generally want help choosing from schools that they see as very similar, whereas Scripps, being located in California, so close to Claremont, etc. seems like quite a different kind of women's college, so I guess people don't need the fine details spelled out for them quite as much?

Anyway, scripps is a great school! And much better weather than the other seven sisters'

Something else to keep in mind (having visited a few weeks ago): Scripps is as single-sex or as coed as you make it. There are a reasonable number of males within walking distance (at the other four 5Cs) and you won't be fighting over them. This is not entirely true of the Five College Consortium (Smith, Mt. Holyoke) or the Tri/Bi-Co Consortium (Bryn Mawr). Scripps is also <1000 students by itself, definitely the smallest top women's college.

You can also PM Student615, who was an invaluable resource to me.
