Hi, next year I will be going to college to study accounting, but I also intend to get a minor in a foreign language and have been considering Portuguese. Despite all of the news regarding China's booming economy and the demand for professionals in business among other areas I have also heard that Brazil is developing economically as well. That said, does anybody know what business opportunities there actually are in Brazil and whether a minor in Portuguese would help me in getting these jobs overseas?
Like growing economies, Brazil is having growth in industrial and economic sectors. If you're major is related to those sectors, work in Brazil is possible.
While I applaud you for looking into a less learned language, Portugese is used only in Brazil and Portugal (and a little in Macau and Mozambique). Visit Brazil first, because that is where you would use your Portugese.
