| Thank you for the advice & the endorsement musicalmom! We'll call first thing Monday morning. Hopefully it will all work out. :-)
zrensmom, ( or anyone who knows ) can you tell me where you got the info " if you don't make the cut, you can never audition for them again " I can't seem to find that information on the the web site. Are you referring to the initial audition to be accepted into the program or are you referring to the jury process once enrolled? That, would make more sense I think and that info is on the web site.
We've learned the hard way, it's important to go in with eyes wide open. :-) |

| Whoa!!! Sorry! I don't know how that got posted three times! Sometimes it looks like it's frozen & hasn't posted so I hit the reply again. I won't do that anymore! :-)
Well, I called and spoke with Victoria. She was incredibly helpful and did verify that the first wave of offers went out already. If everyone accepts there won't be any spots. She even offered to confer with the department heads as to whether it would be worth spending the money to go out there on April 19th, then call me to let me know. wow. |

At the audition, Victoria Oleen told everyone that it is a one time audition program only. My son was devastated as he has been accepted to Wright State, but, thought even if he didn't get in that he could go and take pre-req's and then audition again next year. They told another parent who was also waiting that you cannot audition again. One audition only. I've never heard of that before? Has anyone else heard of that??? |

| I also spoke with Victoria about a week ago. She said that last year they pulled two males from the wait list and that was all. She is incredibly helpful and very sympathetic to those who are still waiting, etc.. She also stated that the waitlist is not a long list. Didn't say how many exactly; but, that it is not a long list. So . . . we are still waiting and also applying to other schools at this point. We've looked at West Virginia as a possibility; as they are non audition and it appears that you can still take all of the necessary classes your Freshman and Sophomore year and then have to be invited into the program your Junior year. Does anyone know anything about their program??? |

| I auditioned and was rejected from the MT program. BUT i'm going next year as a Theatre Studies major and am actually quite excited! You still get some acting training but also learn about directing, stagecraft etc. PLUS all theatre studies majors get to audition for all the musicals and plays...and can even take voice lessons with the faculty! It seems like a win win situation to me!! |

| I'm pretty sure you can take voice your first year. I would call just to be on the safe side. But if your son doesn't get into the program and I HOPE he does...but if he doesn't I would hightly recommend coming to WSU anyways as a TS major! The MT and Acting Departments are top notch that TS get a HUGE advantage over other schools with weaker theatre studies programs! |

| SingerNLmusic that sounds like it is a win win. You sound like you're ready to dive in and be happy there! I wish you the best!
zrensmom, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed that your son gets off the waitlist!
I've never heard of a one time only audition! Doesn't mean they don't exist, but even Juillard gives you three strikes!
I'm wondering if the student auditions for the BFA MT and doen't get in... does that mean they can't even audition again for the BFA in Acting ? Or are they one in the same?
Also, I don't think being put on the waitlist is the same as a no. Technically, they didn't reject him, so maybe they would consider him next year, if no spots open up. hmmm.
Haven't heard back yet from Victoria. We're rethinking this as April will be very hectic with shows and the Reno Jazz Festival and I don't want to put my daughter through an unecessary stress with an added do or die situation! Maybe she should wait till next year, so she'll have better shot.
Sorry thinking out loud. :-)
Thanks for the info you guys! |

| SarasMom, I agree it sounds odd that you can't audition again. But, she seemed pretty clear on it. She is supposed to be calling me back; but, it sounds like you haven't heard from her either. If she does, I'll ask her about it again. If you hear something it would be great if you could let me know. At auditions they acted like, if you don't make the MT program, you might also be considered for the Theatre program; but, they would send a letter stating that you were being placed in the Theatre program vs.t he MT program. I could have misunderstood, as this is all very new to us; but, I don't think so.
This is very stressful for the kids and I certainly can see why you wouldn't want to add any stress for your daughter. Best of luck in Reno and whatever you decide to do!!! Please keep me posted.
Thanks! |

| Well, she said she's welcome to come and audition next month but there would be no scholarship consideration and of course there's the fact that there is a wait list.
We'll speak with our D tonight, but I think we're going to encourage her to wait till next year when there'll be more potential spots and financial help available. It will be one less stress.
Darn, this process is not much different than a championship chess match. Which move will be the winning one? Even then, the casting of a class will be a crap shoot.
I really hope a spot opens up this year for your S zrensmom. Good thoughts and wishes coming your way. :-) |

| You said it!! At least Chess is something I understand and the rules are the same no matter where you play it.
We hope a spot opens up, as well. Unfortunately, we still need to prepare offensively in order to have a good back up plan. So, now we've applied to four more schools for their BA programs.
Good luck to you and your D, as well! We will be sending good thoughts your way, as well! |
