Oh. I see.
Thanks guys.
Oh, by the way, what are our chances?
Have they released the stats as to how many people have applied, and how many they'll accept?
I know for UPenn Early Decision, there's 25% acceptance rate, which is pretty damn good.
I sincerely doubt Yale's statistics will be as optimistic.

Best of luck to all you out there!

I'd expect, then, that they'll take 10-15%?

last year, yale accepted twenty percent of the 3500 early applicants, with approx. 700 accepted early. 4820 applied early this year, which is much closer to the number that applied in 2005. last year, there was a big decline in early applications.
here's the article, if you're interested. Yale Daily News - Early action applications up 36 percent |

It was 18% admitted through early actionin 2005 according to CNN.
4820(.18)=867.6
Thus, we can expect 868 people get admitted this year if things stay the same.

maybe more, they might be afraid people won't matriculate.
maybe less, they don't want to fill too much of the class.
who knows what it's going to be.

Let's be honest. A lot of people will be disappointed this year but at the same time a lot of people will end up being deferred to regular decisions. Anyways, best of luck to all. I'll always remember the day I got into Yale. Regardless, I'm sure all of you will end up going to great universities! Best of luck (skill) to all!

this is my optimistic viewpoint:
since harvard and princeton got rid of ed, yale would expect that most ppl from harv and prince would apply as a backup... meaning that those ea'ers would choose harv and prince over yale = maybe yale will accept more kids than usual to fill the class??
hopefully haha

I still can't believe that the total admit rate for the class of 2011 was less than 9%.... (according the YDN)

hey guys!I am new here!So excuse me for not knowing so many things..Well, I kind need yr help. I have applied to Yale under Early Action and in two days i expect the online decision.
I am a salutatorian of my class(98% my year average report)
I have a lot of activities(Unesco club. drama club, editor in chief of school's magazine, math and physics club of my school)
i have also participated in track and field and gain bronze and gold medals on discus and long distant running.
Nevertheless my Sat Scores were poor.
I got 710 on Math1C, 770 on Math 2C AND 680 on Physics
In reasong my best scores from the two times i gave were 550 CR
780 Maths and 620 in writing with a 60 as a subscore and 10 on essay.
I have working activities also and a participation on Science Olympiad.
Do you think that my Sat scores can lead me to get me deffered or even worse rejected? Please be honest..I m so anxious ..I would appreciate every response...
