What's ironic is that what dan describes really isn't terribly fashionable. His muscle-tee, gelled/straightened hair, A&F aesthetic is a very middle class, middle america, generic sort of mainstream "fashion."

But i'm more interested in Dan's perspective than his somewhat rude critique... I don't think it's fair to flame him as we do, he's only stating an opinion that a lot of men from a (presumably) similar background share. It goes unspoken that we're not supposed to talk about the appearance based judgements that many of us are prone to make, and in that respect maybe he's unaware or not concerned with observing our rules of decorum. But that doesn't make the fact that his opinion is common among certain groups of men any less true.

Keep in mind, dan represents a subset of yalies, the size of which i don't feel i can properly estimate. There are lots of ways to be beautiful (even in a conventional way), and just about all of them are more creative and imo more appealing than dan's way.

uhmm, A&F is not a huge deal Dan. And as for the tanning part, I am disappointed at the fact that you a Yale student would recommend something so stupid. Your few on what "good habits" are needs to change rapidly. Dont tan to much I think it might be ruining your brain cells.

Mochamaven- that was hilarious! I'm glad to know there will be funny, down-to-earth people in my future (Yale 2012!)
