Yale summer school?

I'm pretty much worried about what to do during this summer

Does Yale summer school help/influence a large portion of getting into Yale?
Some friends of mine spend gazillion dollars just on summer school programs in hopes of becoming students of the school. T.T

P.S. Do leadership camp programs like HOBY help too?

any replies would be sooooooooooooo thankful

No, summer school does not help...at all. Apparently it's not that hard to do well in the classes, and anyone who has money can get in. If your family can afford it (or you can go through QuestBridge) I'm sure it's really cool, but don't count on it helping at all in admissions. If that's the reason your friends are doing it, they're wasting their money. However, if they're doing it just because they love learning, they'll have a great time.

HOBY helps a bit, but a lot of people do it, so it's not a golden ticket to admission by any means. It just adds another dimension of "leadership" and "recognition" to your app.

If you don't have something lined up yet, enrollment in most selective summer programs is closed. Think about getting a job or calling up your local university/Congressperson/hospital to see about an internship!

It's def. better than not doing anything over the summer, but the fact that it's at Yale doesn't help for admissions at Yale. It would be viewed the same way as taking summer classes at most other colleges.
