Enough with the AA discussion guys. Yes it's ridiculous, but it's not going to change anytime, and it's certainly not the OP's fault.

grc, your chances are very good. As somebody else mentioned, applications to HYP will probably make you a happy guy by April 1. To be blunt, you're a mildly compelling candidate for HYP with a major boost from your ethnicity. You have great SATs (but where are your subject tests?), good GPA (class rank? top 1-2% is good), and good rigor of schedule (another AP in the mix would have been very impressive). Your ECs are a little difficult to determine right now - how good are you at track/CC? State rankings, etc. might give that particular activity a little more meat. How much of an involvement is this "class President?"

I think you have an excellent chance grc. I will have to agree with earlier posts: your ethnicity is probably what will get you in. However, regardless of ethnicity, I think you are a great candidate, great job!
