Can I get financial aid, though I wrote I didn't intend to ask for any on my app?

Hi, all,

I was accepted SCEA. I put down that i didn't intend to apply for financial aid, but I feel really bad for my parents. Is it too late to see if I qualify? Or am I not even allowed to see, becasue I put down that I didn't intend to? Also, can Yale revoke my acceptance if I do ask for financial aid?

Thanks.

I don't think they'll revoke, and since they're technically need blind and this is early, they might let you...but you'd be adding unexpected paperwork and they might get annoyed. By all means, call and ask, esp if there are new circumstances in the family. Otherwise, since finaid is renewed every year, you can consider having your parents pay full tuition and COA this year and applying next year. I'm assuming they can actually afford Yale w/o aid since they let you not apply for any? Bear in mind that if they can w/o too much hardship you may not qualify for aid anyway...

Relax, your admission will not be revoked. Yale's massive endowment allows it to be highly generous with financial aid, a fact which it prides itself on. I'd highly recommend calling the financial aid office and they'll be reasonably understanding.
