Shuttle to/from BDL for BDD?

OK, clueless parent here.

I'm trying to arrange travel (for my kid) to/from Bulldog Days. The airplane ticket is bought. How do I get her from BDL to campus? The shuttle links on the admissions website say they aren't running shuttles that day.

Both CT Limo and Go Shuttle (formerly Prime Time) have shuttles that run from Bradley. See their links at the link below.

I looked at both yesterday and got an error message suggesting a call to Go Shuttle. They said they do not offer shared shuttles on those dates so CT limo is the way to go. They have a clunky on-line interface but if done on-line the round-trip from BDL to Phelps Gate is $61.75.

^ I agree that they have a clunky on-line interface, but I survived over the past several years.

The interface has actually improved a little bit. Several years ago, it always took multiple trials before I could successfully activate the "Yale Student" discount option and then selected the Phelps Gate as the destination!

If you do use CT Limo make sure the student brings his/her invitation to BDD so there is no issue with getting the student discount. Shouldn't be an issue but better safe than sorry.

I think Yale should have Shuttles running for students. MIT has shuttles going back and forth between logan and the campus as do other schools.

I called admissions and they told me there was a free shuttle (told me this twice via phone) and gave me the information to call for the reservation. I called made the reservation, received a confirmation then today we get a call saying you have to pay, you are not on the list of students we are paying for.

I could have easily made a reservation into New Haven instead of BDL if I had been given the correct information.

I am just wondering if this is typical of Yale's administration (incompetence, giving wrong information, not standing behind what they tell you)

It may be easier for MIT if they have one main airport. New Haven is usually pricey so many arrive from Bradley, LGA and JFK. Even with the shuttle cost it is cheaper for my son to fly to LGA then any other airport. With that many airports I would think it would be difficult for Yale to provide shuttles.

Yes it is cheaper to fly into NY airports and I would have made that reservation if I was not given the incorrect information from admissions. NY also has direct flights from more locations.

This does help point out that Harvard and MIT have better transportation (and for us much cheaper) for when students go home to visit. Harvard's t-stop is right outside the gates and MIT's is a short walk. Students can take the T to the airport.

^ No question about it. Air transportation into and out of Boston is easier than New Haven. In that most students only make the roundtrip four times a year, it is hard to prioritize that in the scheme of things. Only once did my child use Tweed airport in New Haven. The missed connection because of a flight delay makes him continue to primarily use LGA. Yale does have free shuttles to BDD from the New Haven train station but I suspect that few are using the local airport so you can't exactly compare Harvard's largesse to Yale not offerring airport shuttles from 1-2 hours away. Hope bluebird's child gets beyond this to enjoy BDD - the schedule looks amazing!
