Chance me, please?
I am a diploma seeking candidate in the International Baccalaureate program at a magnet school. I am going into my senior year with an unweighted GPA of 3.8 and a weighted of 5.8. I hope to raise both by at least .05 by the time I begin to submit my college applications.
Freshman Year: Honors Pre-IB (HPB) Bio, HPB English, Honors Geometry, Chorus, AP World History (i received a 4 on the AP test), Honors Spanish
Sophomore Year: HPB Chemistry, AP/Pre-IB English Lang (scored a 5), AP Psych (5), AP Euro (5)
*IB officially begins junior year and courses fall into one of two categories, higher level (HL) or standard level (SL). HL classes are usually two years and SL classes one, though there are some SL classes that are two years. My school has a cap of 4 HLs out of 6 classes.
Junior Year: IB-SL Social & Cultural Anthropology, IB-SL Math Analysis (year one), IB-SL Biology, IB-HL (year one)/AP Lit (i have yet to receive my AP scores for this year but highly doubt that any of them will be below a 4), IB-HL History (year one)/AP U.S. History, IB-HL Spanish Language (year one)
This year I tested in Anthro and Bio but scores have not been released. Scores range from 1-7, I doubt either will be below a 5.
Projected Senior Year: IB-HL Lit (year 2), IB-HL Contemporary World History (year 2), IB-SL Math Analysis (Year 2), IB-HL Spanish Language (year 2), AP Macro/ AP Gov (each is a semester but both are tested), Theory of Knowledge
The summer between my sophomore and junior year I took American Sign Language at a local university but these types of courses are only worth one additional credit.
The IB Program also requires the following:
A 4,000 word research based paper
150 hours of community service (junior and senior year only)
A 1,500 word World Lit Paper
A TOK Paper (length unknown)
Model UN (this will be my 3rd year)- Best Position Paper FIMUN 2011

I received an 8 week summer (2012) internship at the Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. My research focuses on cancer using animal models.
I also plan to spend a week volunteering in Haiti (summer 2012). My responsibilities will include teaching English to adults, helping to build a bank and participating in women's empowerment groups. Additionally, i work with an NGO that provides wheelchairs to people injured in the 2010 earthquake.
